I don't think they are retro. My personal belief is that after the current generation ends, the previous one becomes retro.GSZX1337 wrote:I don't think that last generation is retro. Let's argue about that!

Re: What's the deal?
yeah but it's better to get a head start in your retro collection, since previous gen consoles + games are so cheap right now.

I think they're still shipping and producing PS2, but the games are becoming nonexistent..tommyboy8689 wrote:i thought they stopped all ps2 stuff a couple months ago?

Erm, because both companies have a history of doing things that are bad for consumers. Like overhyping and defective gear. Both are also large companies that fit well into the bully stereotype, which may or may not be true.
As for the current gen, I went with what had the most games i wanted to play. As far as I'm concerned all three systems were decent this time, the problem was my budget/retro addiction.

I don't know about "enemy". More like something to loathe(?) (Couldn't think of another word that I'd like to use...)...EvilRyu2099 wrote:Are the new consoles the enemy?
(Just me personally) But I'm really disappointed with the current generation (minus the Nintendo DS). While there are a lot of great titles released for all systems, this generation of systems feels kinda... shallow... Once again with the NDS being the exception, all of the systems feel the same and don't really have anything to offer that the other brand doesn't. This current generation (and I could kinda extend this to the last gen as well) has a lack of personal identities unlike the competition between Snes vs Genesis/MD or N64 vs PS1 vs Saturn... back when systems were mostly different.
Does anyone feel the same way that I do?

While, in my opinion, the DS is the best system of the seventh gen, with Wii as the best of the consoles, nothing outside of the DS is really worth it. All of the games for PS3 and 360 feel the same, the PSP does nothing new, and the way some developers use the Wii just doesn't make it feel right. The DS is the right mix of innovation, control, games, and durability, which is why I'll be waiting outside Wal-Mart or K-Mart on the midnight of its release.

Sony and Microsoft were a few of the final large nails in Sega's coffin. We are still bitter.

Re: What's the deal?
Maybe so, but Sony only entered the game because of Nintendo dicking them over, while Sega was happy to put in a few of their own nails into that coffin while trying to beat Nintendo.Breetai wrote:Sony and Microsoft were a few of the final large nails in Sega's coffin. We are still bitter.
Face it(and I don't mean just Breetai, I mean all of us): they all suck, and they've all done things we're quick to denounce them for unless they happen to be that one company that we consider "sacred." Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft, and Atari have all done nasty things in their day to try to win. Ultimately fanboyism is stupid, pointless, and merely helps to continue the vicious cycle while also continuing to foster the pathetic arguments that plague video game forums everyone over whose console sucks more because a corporate name is stuck to it.
They all have their pros and cons. Let's suck it up, get over it, and go play some games.
