help with getting mod chip to work -_-

Post by persona21 »

ok so i have a model 2 saturn, round buttons

i soldered the red wire

and i dunno if i should solder the blue one to the pin, cuz it was really risky, so i just wrapped the exposed wire around the 14th pin leg instead :)

the white magetic power strip thing that you plug into the chip has a really sticky, blue plastic tape on it that i didn't notice in your pics on the site racketboy, but i think it should be ok. so i plugged that into the chip and plugged the chip in.........and no luck, just says check format.

i think its cuz the chips not all the way in, i mean i can still see the connectors, but damn i can't push it all the way in even if i push really hard, hard enough that the white socket hole thing bends! i heard that i can sand it down, but wouldn't that damage the connectors?!

and also, i can't remove the chip from the sytstem now cuz the red wire's already soldered in place.

Sounds like you need to file down the edges of the plug part so it fits in the slot better

I had to. So I agree there. The damn thing does not want to fit and you have to file down those sides right up against the metal contacts. Or you can at least round off the two sharp corners. That might be enough to let it slide in.

Also, the A+B method worked flawlessly for me. I would not mess with that one lone pin on the IC chip until you are sure the A+B method won't work for you.

yes it was because of the edges that need filing :D

everything works now, even tho i didn't solder the blue wire to the 14th pin: i just wrapped the exposed wire around the pin leg thingy
