Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: 2011 Gaming and Collecting Goals
My goal is to complete my N64 collection. Its not a complete collection but will include around 200 games when done. There are about 15 US released games and another 5-7 Japanese exclusive games I'm hoping to add to my collection. Than I want to play all of the collection.
I also would like to add to my Saturn, Xbox, GBA and DS collections especially while Xbox and GBA are cheap and play the games I already have.
Oh, and actually have the Retro Together, or whatever its called, guys pick something I own so that I can take part.

Re: 2011 Gaming and Collecting Goals
Sega Nomad didn't come out in PALland.
Anyhow, for my collecting goal for the year, I wouldn't mind grabbing another couple of cheaper retro consoles to make some more progress on the systems I want (stuff I still intend to buy, probably over the space of a few years: Game Gear, Wonderswan Crystal, Commodore 64, Mega CD, 32X, XBox, another goddamn PS2, PSP if it becomes slightly cheaper, maybe a Lynx).
Aswell as grabbing a couple of those (I generally keep my new console purchases down to about 2 or 3 a year) I intend to buy a couple of good but cheap games for the systems I've bought which I've been neglecting. I only have 3 good dreamcast games (jet set radio, chuchu rocket, space channel 5) and a handful of good games for saturn (sonic jam, nights, worms, theme park, discworld), PS1 (Final Fantasy VII,VIII,IX), PS2 (FFXII, Ico, Sahdow of the Colossus). I have slightly more NES and SNES and NGPC games than that but I wouldnt mind a few new ones either. Maybe some new mega drive and N64 games too since I've basically beaten all of mine. And this is how I end up buying way more games than I can actually play. When I graduate and get a decent job (seemingly in the distant future the way things look atm), its going to be even worse.
And as if that wasnt bad enough, its 3DS launch year. Oh god yes, I must have that console.
As for beating games, my mission is just to keep beating stuff to the point where I have under 5 unbeaten games per console, and perhaps further. I'm not too far off that target atm (I have 8 gamecube, 10 virtual console, 6 master system and 8 DS, but the others are 5 or less), but I imagine I'll be getting a bit more come christmas. I'm not sure I have a specific target for what to beat though. Last year I beat all the old games I'd been leaving to rot unfinished for years, aswell as all the retro stuff i got with my new (old) consoles, and this year I kinda did a flip on that and tried to bring down the more modern purchases I'd been ignoring from the year before. I feel I'm at a pretty good balance now though.
Oh, maybe I should beat some metroid prime and final fantasy games? I have 3 metroid prime games and 6 final fantasys sitting unbeaten. That's probably more RPGs than I can bear in 1 year though...

Re: 2011 Gaming and Collecting Goals
My main goal is to purchase some consoles I feel would be interesting to check out, the TurboGrafx and the Neo-Geo, and also to figure out how to get the damn Odyssey 2 plugged into my TV. As well as finding out what my Model 1 HDG Genesis needs in order to work on a TV, the thing works but the RF doesn't work.
Gaming related, I want to check out some series of games that I haven't checked out, including Final Fantasy, which I've only played FF13 (a mortal sin.). I also want to get into the Shmup genre since everyone raves about how dead awesome it is.
Collecting wise, I want to try finding the boxes to my cart based games and start completing those, with the N64 being my first priority. (Organization wise, really.)
EDIT: I also want to get into PC gaming. That's one of my more abused "consoles" I suppose. OnLive is really getting me into PC gaming, too.

Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

Re: 2011 Gaming and Collecting Goals
I only have one main goal at the moment, NEO GEO
I'm not sure how but I will find a way. Also, I plan to play a lot of street fighter and get a lot better. My new TE stick just arrived the other day.

Re: 2011 Gaming and Collecting Goals
Hands off my thread you.dsheinem wrote:I've had a lot of fun this year with the Games Beaten 2010 thread, and I'm sure we'll see a 2011 thread pop up on or around January 1.
That thread made me think: I am curious what kinds of goals others have for next year in terms of both playing and collecting games.
I started the thread so we could see what we accomplished game wise in the year. # of games beaten could mean less to me, it's about enjoying what you play and looking back on your accomplishments. My goal will be the same in 2011, to enjoy the games I play and hopefully beat some games that I haven't been able to for years.
Re: 2011 Gaming and Collecting Goals
I didn't say the thread was about goals or numbers - I said it helped me with setting game playing goals. It's actually the lack of competitiveness and the celebration/discussion of beaten games that I enjoy about that thread!Luke wrote:Hands off my thread you.dsheinem wrote:I've had a lot of fun this year with the Games Beaten 2010 thread, and I'm sure we'll see a 2011 thread pop up on or around January 1.
