There's the old Ford Simulator series for MS-DOS. Quarantine and its sequel Road Warrior also involve driving without racing, although you won't get anywhere without doing some missions rather than just driving around. Also, Atari's classic Night Driver might fit your bill.

My favorite game for driving around aimlessly is Midnight Club 3. You can choose to race if you want, but otherwise you are welcome to just drive around the city streets. There are excellent radio stations and big open worlds. It's great fun, especially if you have a steering wheel controller.

Then definitely try out Driver 2!Luke wrote:But yeah, I'm looking for a game where you can drive around aimlessly, but are penalized for going off road, causing accidents, running from the cops, etc.

Driver 1 is in lot #65 of the charity auction. (Driver Greatest Hits (disc and manual), PGA Tour '98, MLB 2000)

Or cars or anything else. It's literally just circuit racing. Alone.Luke wrote:There's no street traffic is there?hashiriya1 wrote:TA mode you can do this without penalty.Luke wrote: In Gran Turismo, you can't drive around aimlessly without some type of penalty if memory serves.

this was the only good part of driver 2 in my opinion. i can remember spending hours getting absolutely trashed and driving around in the game.
