It isn't. On the original Gameboy there is a little latch so if the cart is in, then it won't turn on. If you put it in a GB pocket, the screen will tell you that it is only compatible with the Gameboy color. Hope this helpsCRTGAMER wrote:Just realized, I have a GBA so never noticed something. Is the clear GBC cart compatible with the original Gameboy?noiseredux wrote:yes.saturnfan wrote:what is a black GBC cart? Is the cart literally colored black?
gray - GB cart
black - backwards compatible GBC cart
clear - GBC
little - GBA

Re: A few Game Boy questions
You cant turn on the original GB with a GBC cart in because it is missing the little recess in the top corner.
Q: Do super game boy features work with a game boy player? Would my DK '94 cart have the improved sound credits song and the 'help' voice clip, the improved colours and the border on a game boy player?

Interesting. I guess there is an advantage to using the ol' super game boy sometimes.noiseredux wrote:right.alienjesus wrote:You cant turn on the original GB with a GBC cart in because it is missing the little recess in the top corner.

yep. Bomberman being the big one. But yeah if you enjoy borders, then yeah. Also there are a few games that recognize two SNES controllers via SGB. SO yeah.

Re: A few Game Boy questions
The borders are nice, but its more the idea that i could miss something cool like the music track on DK'94 thats played on super game boy. It's just something nice to try I guess, see what they do with it.noiseredux wrote:yep. Bomberman being the big one. But yeah if you enjoy borders, then yeah. I agree. The SGB is a great accessory. Obviously the pre-cursor to the GBP. I had one for years and loved it.

Re: A few Game Boy questions
Unlike the Super Gameboy that drew on the SNES's more powerful hardware, the Gameboy player IS an Gameboy Advance. Playing games on the Gameboy Player is the same as on the GBA. So certain games, mostly bootlegs, do not work on it. I only had one legit game not work on the GBA, out of the hundreds my GBA played, it did not work on the Gameboy Player either. If I remember correctly it was a Sesame Street/Elmo game.
And I thought Bomberman supported 4 player on the Super Gameboy.

Re: A few Game Boy questions
I've never had a GB/GBC/GBA game not play on the GBP. I did have trouble getting a bootleg to sync with a real cart between two GBP's. But I'm not sure the Sesame Street title you speak of?fastbilly1 wrote:Unlike the Super Gameboy that drew on the SNES's more powerful hardware, the Gameboy player IS an Gameboy Advance.
