Yup. Now if I'd only noticed that the auction was everything but the manual. I glazed over and saw the reg card and precaution book thinking the manual was there too. Oh well.
ah, that sucks -- you still better than me. Mine is cart-only. Maybe you can scan yr box and make a cover for thecoverproject.net -- that's still one I'm missing.

Who do you use? I usually go with Wolfie myself.

My box is a bit squishy, so maybe not the best. I will scan it for you if you want though. I only played one quick game so far, I was using Wolfie as well.

From now on, this is how I will imagine Noise at play on his gameboy.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

A nice rare item! I'm still not clear on how the controls overlay the Gameboy which I assume is all mechanical?

AA-AAA-C-D batteries are all just under 1.5 DC volts each.
You can easily Mod that double D battery power with a simple three volt DC adapter and still maintain battery portability. Solder the leads right to the battery + and - terminals, maybe go elaborate and throw in a mini jack. Just be sure to use a power brick with more amps then a cell phone charger. Be sure to remove batteries before plugging in the AC.

actually if I'm gonna look into any modifications, I'm wondering if the innards from a GBC could be transplanted to a GB's body? Really you need the body to be the size of the original heavy gray brick, but it'd be great if I could have a color screen in this thing. What do you think CRT? Ziggy?

GBC->GB shell has got to be an easy mod. The screen specifications are the same, aren't they? Is the spacing of the buttons in relation to the screen vastly different?

Close
Does look like a close fit, isn't the Gameboy Color thinner? Some dense foam in the bottom and back to help the alignment? Maybe a pic of the guts of the Konami Hyper Boy? That is if you don't mind popping the back shell. Well, maybe at least a top back pic looking in without a Gameboy to get an idea of the mechanism and satisfy the curious?

Gutout
Comparing the GB and GBC, the space between the screen and buttons a little different. A gut swap might be possible, headache would be moving the screen up if there is enough lead in the LCD ribbon wire. Not even sure how the GBC LCD is attached internally. The GB buttons seem to match for aligning the GB PCB, its the screen location that will be the major obstacle.

Ultimate
A GBA SP would be the ultimate, a tricky mod to incorporate the internal levers to match up the buttons. Hard wiring in micro switches and a gutted GBA SP PCB could be done. But almost easier to start from scratch going that route though. The GBC seems the easiest best option without cannibalizing this rare controller.

Get the Jack
The AC power mod is somewhat non-intrusive a small hole for the wire-jack. A very easy to mod to save on changing dead batteries all the time. Plus you can maintain battery capability for portability.

Grab this pic for future use!

I'd love to have a GBASP inside of a GB -- but I'm definitely not going to do any modding to the Hyper Boy whatsoever. It's far too rare a beast to make any changes to.
