Lol, yeah Diamond Head are great, I also like Saxon, Witchfynde, Overdrive, Praying Mantis, Tygers of Pan Tang, Angel Witch, Quartz, Witchfinder General, etc, I'll listen to pretty much anything NWOBHM though. There were so many damn bands in the movement at that time and loads of bands that never really got any notice, but still fucking rocked. I love finding some old cassette or 7'' from some obscure NWOBHM band at my local record store, and love the fact that 20 years on I'm still finding awesome bands I'd never heard of before.
Nice! Definitely love all those bands you listed. I just recently got a reissued CD of Satanic Rites' Which Way the Wind Blows and I am pissed it took me so long to finally give this band a chance, knowing how great the entire album sounds. I also enjoy the more AOR sounding bands like Persian Risk, Tokyo Blade, Rock Goddess, Black Rose, Shogun, Grim Reaper, etc.
Yeah, it is true that NWOBHM bands were not consistent with success (except for bands such as Saxon, Def Leppard, and Iron Maiden) and because of this many went extinct. Still, at least the majority of them have reunited and are still keeping it strong. Though it sucks that Avenger's longtime vocalist Ian Davidson Swift has been ousted. Now the only original founding member of that band is the drummer Gary Young.
