It made a lot more sense if you were coming off of Metroid I and II.
good point, i'm kinda goin backwards with the series. maybe that's why i can't particularly stand the first one. i mean, i played it a bit when i was a kid, but not seriously and now it just seems an insurmountable pile of aged technology and repeating textures. i tried playing II on an emulator, it was weird... maybe the lack of a gamepad contributed to that... i'm pretty psyched about playing a completed AM2R.

IMHO, the best authentic Metroid II experience is to get an original Metroid II cartridge and pop it into a GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, or Gamecube GameBoy Player. All of these have a nice palette preset of about 12 colors that works very nicely for nearly everything in the game.

Nightmare is where I stopped playing the game. :( I loved it up to that point though.
I don't remember Nightmare being that bad. :?

Nightmare's a dick! I spent days making my way thru that game, loving every minute. Then Nightmare came along. Then I stopped playing.

Nightmare is considerably easier in 3D.

ur probably on to something there, authenticity is pretty important to me tho. but have you seen the color patch for the Metroid II rom? i'm thinkin that, plus a retroUSB NES Controller to USB adapter with my dogbone plugged in. Eh? could be pretty sweet

edit: mod idea/master plan: gut a broken Gameboy, wire it up with a NES controller board inside with the to-gamecube adapter and play it on the Gameboy Player... admittedly that is somewhat ridiculous... could be cool tho. (i'm bored today) I guess one could always use a GBA w/ the gamecube/GBA connector. i think i need to go outside.

yes, Metroid II is amazing this way. It's actually one of my favorites of the series BTW. But I remember putting it in my GBPlayer and seeing it in color and my mind was blown.

Metroid Prime would like a word with you. Alone, out back in the alley. With a bat.

Today I just purchased a Metroid cart for my FC mobile 2. Just spent 30 minutes playing and enjoyed it. I am really stoked to dig in further. I wish it had a map, or at least told me which upgrades I was picking up when I get them, but I think it is fun.

If anyone has a good link for some maps and hints please share!

Metroid=pew pew pew pew pew!
