Doesn't matter how you butter it up in the EULA that's a violation of consumer rights. It's essentially a bait and switch which is illegal in the EU. No doubt it's illegal in the states as well. If they aren't going to offer the download to existing customers then they need to refund you or provide you with an alternative. It's as simple as that.
How is it a bait and switch if the terms you agree to when you buy it specify you are buying a license to download that may expire at a future date? I thought everyone who bought games via PSN, XBLA, etc. knew this. Is MS guilty of bait and switch because you can't download titles for the oXbox anymore, even if you paid for them? No. You buy it knowing it might go away. End of story.

What does the agreement say?

for fuck's sake. PSN played a very stupid joke on me.

I swear when I tried to download it a few days ago an error message popped up. I thought it was cause I had it already installed on my PS3. I tried to download Prince of Persia Classic which was also installed on my ps3, and it let me, so I was sure that it must have been that Outrun had been pulled down from the servers.

Now I tried to download again, and it works. FFS. Sorry for the confusion guys.

OK, so Sega is to blame!
For me it all comes down to this.
I was always curious, but never bought it. dumb luck.
but why the HELL, was this not announced that it would be taken of PSN?
They would have sold lots and I for 1 would be happy to have bought it!
Now, I feel powerless and dumb, I mean anything is for sale, but this. Now I need someone's account (I'd pay for it :D ) which probably isn't going to happen or I need to buy someone's ps3 which is ridiculous.

Well, I'm glad that I can still re-download it if needed.

d123456, I think you are stuck with the PS2 version. Unless you can get someone to let you use their account to download it? Sorry, but I'm not willing to do that unless you offer a silly amount of money.

Just a curiosity how much longer for existing customers?
Maybe the online gaming portion may go away?
Will Sony repeat a Kindle "1984"?
