Are there any D&D Games where Alignment effects things?

Alignment in Dungeons & Dragons roughly equals your character's general attitude based on two choices: your character's adherence to order and your character's morality. Order is represented by the choice of Lawful, Neutral, or Chaotic, while morality is represented by the choice of Good, Neutral, or Evil. And opposites oppose each other, so Lawful Good is the bane of Chaotic Evil, while Lawful Evil and Chaotic Good detest each other. Picking the center of both nets you True Neutral, which most people seem to believe means you're indifferent.

ok, thanks (I could have looked it up somewhere, I guess), no D&D for Saturn then, which does not have anything to do with alignment, but a great game collection!

As stated before I believe Baldur's Gate I and II on the PC as well as the Icewind Dale series also for PC. None of the older games that I am aware of (the old SSI PC games like the Eye of the Beholder series) were ever really concerned with alignment since they were primarily just dungeon crawls.

Almost forgot but I believe Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone has some alignment context though I could be mistaken. I just picked it up for the XBOX but haven't played it yet. Another that might have some context is the Temple of Elemental Evil for the PC. Fairly recent title that supposed has a very indepth storyline.

Wow, my mind must be slipping because I just remembered Neverwinter Nights I and II for the PC. Even if the main story isn't affected by alignment there are numerous user created adventures that are.

Sorry for the rambling, but I am currently collecting D&D games and this thread caught my interest.

Haha, while I do understand what the OP is asking, I was thinking the same exact thing when I read D&D.

Not strictly what you were talking about, but Ultima IV involved moral decisions that were required to further the game. Being an asshat in Brittania will prevent you from winning -- you have to become virtuous as the Avatar.

Not really the same thing, but one of the earliest games that had a pseudo-alignment-esque-kinda-sorta thing going on.

I'm surprised it took that long for Neverwinter Nights to come up. In the many Role Playing Persistent Worlds, alignment was a big factor. It is who you are as a character. In user created adventures you can use NWNscript to factor in your alignment, or any other attribute to calculations.

It's not DnD based, but Fable incorporates alignment effectively as well, at least, as well as Kotor does.
