Are there any D&D Games where Alignment effects things?

Post by ReddMcKnight »

Basically, I'm looking for a Dungeons and Dragons Video Game where the Alignment you choose, or shift to during the game, effects things in the game, such as how people react to you, or how the ending turns out, sort of like the Shin Megami Tensei games. So, anyone know of any?

If I'm not mistaken, alignment has some kind of effect in Baldur's Gate, though I believe it related to how well party members got along with one another.

Alignment has some effect in the "Wizardry" series, since good and evil Characters can't be in the same party, and certain classes require your character to be good or evil.

It doesn't matter that much though in practice, because there's a trick you can use to have a party of mixed alignment...

Probably not what you're looking for, but in Stronghold for PC, your alignment affects your goal in the game - become emperor, destroy all your enemies, or both (neutral).

I've played that. It has some Fantasy Elements, IIRC.

Dragon Age. It doesn't have a single Black/White thing when it comes to alignment and its effects on the ending, just lots of grays.

Mass Effect is similar- either way you're the hero, you can just choose to be actually heroic or an antihero asshole.

Most D&D games alignment does have an effect. In the cosmology, Law, Chaos, Good, and Evil are tangible forces. Things can actually be made of Law or made of Evil. So it has a lot of meaning. Given the cosmology is somewhat silly at times (I'm looking at you Planescape setting), but still.

I don´t understand what this thread is about, but I recommend Capcom´s D&D for the Saturn!
