Why do PS2 games neglect memory card #2?
got my 64MB card in an ebay BiN for $13 shipped direct from hong kong. it looks almost exactly like an official card, but its a knockoff.GSZX1337 wrote:I guess console manufacturers assume that everyone games alone? For your problem, I suggest getting one of those 64MB PS2 memory cards that I've seen floating around.
works like a charm

Glad I'm not the only one who gets annoyed by little things like this. I hate how developers ignore the little things. I typically like to have all my game saves backed up on another card, so this has always been particularly annoying for me because I like to go back and forth between two cards when I'm saving. Some games let you do this, but many(as you have indicated)do not.
Jak2? Ugh, baaaaaad game. I only liked the first one. Naughty Dog really went downhill when they stopped making Crash Bandicoot games.

That is because PS1 games can't access PS2 mem cards. The two cards use different block sector sizes. So if the PS1 game sent a command to the PS2 mem card to fill a sector with a certain data length, it would fail, because the commands and everything are completely different.RadarScope1 wrote:What REALLY pissed me off when I first got a PS2 was there's no way to transfer save files from a PS1 card to a PS2 card. Why?
If I'm wrong and someone knows a way to do this, let me know.

Onimusha Warlords which is the game I'm currently playing has it also and its a really old game, so its just developer lazyness.Mozgus wrote:God of War 2 actually has a mem card selection screen if you have both cards inserted. So thats the first game I've confirmed to have this function and that proves its not a hardware limitation, just a developer oversight.
Yeah, Shadow of the Colossus is another. I'm betting ICO will as well. I need to keep testing more games. The games that support both slots, I'm moving the saves over to #2. The ones that dont go on #1. This way I don't have to swap card around.executioner wrote:Onimusha Warlords which is the game I'm currently playing has it also and its a really old game, so its just developer lazyness.Mozgus wrote:God of War 2 actually has a mem card selection screen if you have both cards inserted. It's been sitting around, but we've hardly done anything with it.
