Ever Get So Enraged You Break Your Game/Controller/Console?
Re: Ever Get So Enraged You Break Your Game/Controller/Console?
I destroyed a ps2 controller trying to get 0.00 in the chocobo race in FFX...those of you who have done that will probably understand my pain.

I try not to play too many games that piss me off like that. I know after I sat down determined to make my way thru the Japanese FDS version of Castlevania I ended up twisting the controller in my hands several times. I ended up just giving up, not wanting to ruin a controller just by playing a game. I also had that problem w/ Ys Oath of whatever on the PSP. The part where you have those four trials and have to run and jump using the stupid thumb stick. Ugh. I had to keep telling myself not to snap the damn system in half. LOL
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

My rage is confined to putting holes in walls. I've become quite good with joint compound and a putty knife...

Ah lots of rage for video games:
During the NES days alot of video games annoyed me (i was 5 when i first got it), the worst being the first Final Fantasy 1. I broke the first controller in the marsh cave, and ripped the system lid off it when i bumped the system and lost my save near the end of the game, and many other pissy fits. Ninja Turtles one killed my first system, as my little fists smacked the system till it no longer worked (with no lid mind you)/
Snes days i broke one controller playing yoshi's island when it came out, it was all that crying that killed me haha (i would mock baby mario as i yelled).
Ps1 got broken twice, not from game rage itself but from the system failing so much. I couldnt even get through the beginning of FF7 on my first ps1 without it locking up, so i beat the shit out of the system and destroyed the blockbuster disc in it. Broke 2 controllers on that system too but cant remember the games.
N64 had one casualty, my neon green toysrus exclusive controller. In college me and my roomate were animals at mario tennis, we would play it on extreme hard doubles on clay court vs bowser and boo and win. Then the day came to go one on one after each other. 2 hours into a 6 set match, constant ties and tiebreakers came down to the end, in which i lobbed the ball and got a net and lost. That controller was demolished.
PS2 lost a controller to toyko extreme racer. Hit the wall so hard i lost R2 button, took 10 min to find it and i put it all back together. 15 minutes later the controller was missing the button again. Then the controller never saw the light of day again, and neither did that game.
And on the PC front, i put my monitor through the drywall in my front apartment thanks to lagging death matches in AVP.
This doesnt even count all the times ive raged, cursed and hit controllers, but those are the most destructive ones i can remember.
And on a side note i fix cars for a living ( i have my own crappy shop). My rage for working on cars sometimes matches the video game rage i used to have haha

I smashed controllers many times. I used to beat the crap out of my SNES too when I was younger. If you pick it up you can hear something moving around inside of it. It still works perfectly though, and has no yellowing. Those things are fucking tough. Not like today's garbage consoles
These days, I take out my anger at a game verbally, much better for my wallet since I'm not constantly replacing controllers

Try throwing an xbox 360 at a wall. It'll disintegrate like it's made of powdered sugar.

Fun rage story: When I was 11-12ish, I rented Super Ghouls and Ghosts for SNES. I apparently did not know how hard of a game that was...Gamerforlife wrote:I smashed controllers many times. I got so mad I went over to my snes (on the floor,) flipped it upside down, and then repeatedly stomped on it until the game split in half. No harm done to the SNES itself...like Gamerforlife said, it was bulletproof.
