Farewell, Atlus.
Re: Farewell, Atlus.
As long as the same great games keep coming in one form or another I'll be fine.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

Well, it is a re-organizing move by the parent company of Atlus, meaning there could be more direct-link from shareholders to programmers, Keep in mind sometime VG companies get only a fraction of cash flow of a corporation.
Remember SEGA's console division was losing money during the Dreamcast run, not its other operation divisions (such as pachinko, and LOVE hotel!), and that was shut down for good.
It will be a mixed blessing, IMO, as Atlus usually come out with games that are very different from SquareEnix and other JP companies. But SMT series is a strong brand, that wouldn't be easy to diminish.

Well the good thing is whatever Atlus does it still seems like they're going to continue doing it. It just sux the brand name probably will be gone because the Atlus name is enough to get me to pick up a game off the shelf and look at it and say hmm...

They're planning on retaining the name for new game releases, since the Atlus name has a high amount of positive brand recognition. You don't just throw away something like that.

As long as their keeping the brand name, I'll be happy. After all, it's because of Atlus that I'm a fan of Megami Tensei and I want to look into Trauma Center in the future.

That sucks, I thought there games were quit good, unlike activision with turning call of duty into the madden of FPS. Might as well wait a few versions before there will be any major changes.
