Hey all, just wanted you to know 1up has the first SF4 screens. IMO it looks bad ass! 2D gameplay is confirmed. This could be amazing. EGM will have full impressions of hands on gameplay in January.

Well, it is two-dimensional gameplay.ohayes wrote:I really hate how they call it '2d' gameplay, when it is still using polygons over sprites. For me that's the whole issue, regardless if it plays on a 2d plane the fact that polygonal characters are slower and inferior than sprite based ones causes me great concern for Street Fighter IV
That's why they say gameplay instead of graphics.
Looking good though -- about how I pictured it after watching the trailer.

Very interesting cel-shading technique there. That's definitely using some current-gen power to render. The backgrounds need some work though, in order to compare to that. The people in the background dont look similar to Ryu's look at all.
But I still have little faith that Capcom can make a good 3D Street Fighter.

Project Justice wasn't bad, but its not tournament quality.Mozgus wrote:Very interesting cel-shading technique there. That's definitely using some current-gen power to render. Has there ever been a 2.5D, tournament-quality fighter?

I've been thinking hard about this since I saw the screenshot... I honestly can't think of one.
I'm not feeling the "style" personally. It looks okay, but there seems to be nothing behind it. It's like they just phoned in the art design.
