Love, love, LOVE R.A.D.! It's hilariously presented (in English at least) and damn fun to play. ICO is also pretty cool, although that's another game I've yet to beat... Really should sometime since it's relatively short, right?

WTF work time fun!
I wanted WTF so much when I first heard of it. However, for some reason I ended up never buying it... I definitely will now though that you've reminded me and minigames are great. Speaking of which Rhythm Heaven is fabulous and I've yet to get it as well....
emwearz wrote:When I think of unusual games I always think of The Neverhood, it also has one of the best soundtracks ever created, which is also very unusual.
Thanks for bringing this one up! Despite it being on my list for years I've never played it (although I have gone through Skull Monkeys). Claymation anything in games is awesome as is, so I bet this game is double awesome.

Since terrin707 mentioned American McGee, I'll drop a recommendation for American McGee's ScrapLand. I'm not sure if it would count as quirky, but it's a good game.
I've heard Toy Commander brought up a few times before... it does seem really cool and it slightly reminds me of Portal Runner (spin off of the Army Men games), interestingly enough. ScrapLand is pretty cool, even if it's not entirely quirky!
Dylan wrote: You might consider giving Psychonauts a go, while the gameplay is that of a relatively standard platformer, the level design and atmosphere are incredible. They range from fantastic at best and bizzare at weirdest (see Meat Circus). It's the kind of game that I absolutely love, but if you reskinned it in a bland manner, I wouldn't hardly enjoy it. That's how interesting the presentation is.
Grim Fandango is a freaking amazing game and I love Tim Schafer in general. However... upon playing my sister's copy of Psychonauts I wasn't ever able to bond with the game. She definitely enjoyed it, but I just couldn't D: . Maybe I'll give it another go because it sure seems that a lot of people have good words to say about it.

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! You're reminding me of games I've wanted or games I already have that I am now rediscovering (and therefore I don't even need to spend money!). :D

I felt the same way, until after I got to the fourth level (Lungfishopolis). That's where the game just starts getting awesome. It really is unfortunate that the 3 least interesting levels are the first three levels.

Ha! I was just about to mention Rhythm Heaven. I love that game!

The narrator's voice really adds to the quirkiness of Dungeon Keeper, and in a DEEP way. Quite a bassist with his voice.

Another interesting game is Tokyo Bus Guide/Driver for the Dreamcast. Not knowing Japanese just adds to the fun and frustration. No matter! Fail and fail again; really quite fun! : )

Since you mentioned Doshin the Giant for GC, maybe you'd like to check out Kururin Squash, a really neat NTSC-J puzzle game for GC.

Retro Game Challenge for Nintendo DS; quirky storyline and you get to play through a ton of old school games completing challenges.

Wierd games? My Speciality =D

For Wii id check out the No More Heroe's games or Madworld to great beat em ups that ooze style and are strange beyonde belief.

Seaman for Dreamcast is a treat looking after a virtual pet fishman with Leonard Nimoys voice O:

Space Channel 5 1 and 2 are just insane the colors, music and design flair are awsomly quirky and give this retro jetsons 60's feel.

Product Number 3 for Gamecube is another odd hybrid game its sorta arcade, 3rd person shooter, dance game.

American McGee's Alice for PC is a wonderfully evil game the writing is sharp, the game plays good and the entire universe created is beautifuly twisted.

God Hands another strange beat em up/comedy game its pretty insane and has a sorta rpg level up system you can choose what punches take place at what button presses and make ridiculous looking combos. My square, square, square combo opens with a pimp slap, elbow thrust, three punches to the chin and a foot to the face :D

All i can think of right now hope it helps :/

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! (DS) (Yes! Fight! Cheerleader Squad! IIRC)

Picture this. A student is trying to study for an important exam. He can't concentrate and his family makes too much noise. He begins to despair and he can't do anything! He finally cracks and...

OUENDAAAAN !

Suddenly three black figures break into the room and start cheering for him! Thanks to the power of determination he is able to study for the exam...or perhaps not, it depends on you!

OTO is a musical game where you tap the NDS screen following the music. It has very quirky characters, fun gameplay and is probably one of my top games of all time. I have yet to meet a single person who didn't like it after playing it, it's just so much fun.

There's a sequel (Osu! Tatake! Ouendan! and an American version called "Elite Beat Agents". The music choice is not as solid and it has less replay value once you get really good at the game but I can't recommend it enough. You can also get it for very cheap in any local shop.
Looking for a cool game? Find it in my blog!

Have you tried Knights in the Nightmare for DS or PSP? It's a great strange mix of many things.
