Scott Pilgrim versus the World
Re: Scott Pilgrim versus the World
Yeah, I really enjoyed the movie. Enjoyed it so much that I ended up reading all the books in about 4 hours(borrowed from a friend - I'll buy them eventually).
Even before reading the books, though, some things just didn't add up. Things like Ramona leaving inexplicably after the Lucas Lee fight, Scott inexplicably becoming a total douche after the Todd Ingram fight, and then the attempt at putting Scott and Knives back together just didn't make sense to me.
After reading all the books, though, I feel like Ramona's character wasn't complete. Sure, she was cool and mysterious and all that, but I don't remember her ever laughing or making jokes to get a rise out of Scott or anything.
Kim and Wallace also didn't seem complete, but they at least got the basic character traits right. Ramona without her girlish personality quirks just isn't Ramona to me.
Regardless, I'd watch it a third time and I'll get the disc when it comes out.
Oh yeah, after reading the comic, I found out that Scott Pilgrim and I have the same birthday. Guess that explains my sleeping 'til ungodly hours and flaky relationship with 'gainful employment'.

The comic book and game were way better.
Well obviously if they put in the whole book but i said they missed a good chunk of story. They forgot parts that were important and instead added their own stupid jokes when they couldve helped the movie's story.
This movie isnt doing so good any way
Budget $85-90 million
Gross revenue $32,328,000

I loved it! When my friend and I got back from seeing we downloaded and played the game for several hours. Definitely one of the best moves I've seen in a long time. Strangely there was only 6 other people in the entire theater watching it with us. Am I alone in thinking Kim was the best character?

I absolutely loved this movie as well. My dad and I absolutely laughed out loud at some of the fights and the video game references in the movie. But there was just one thing that bothered me. Forgive me if this offends anyone, but I need to get this out...
Am I the only one who thought that the girl with the purple hair came across as a Mary Sue?

Trying not to read any spoilers in this topic
I haven't seen it yet, but based on the random clips I've seen online, and the fact that it's a comic book movie and the fact that it focuses a lot on video games and the fact that it's from the same guy who did the awesome Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead movies, I'm pretty sure I'll love it
The game on the other hand, wasted potential I think
I actually got the first five volumes of Scott Pilgrim, but I don't think I want to read them until I see the movie or else I'll just end up nitpicking about whatever was changed from the books

Wow really? I saw it like 2 weeks ago here in Australia. Od, we are normally the ones who have to wait months to get stuff.Fickieboy wrote:I cant find a screenerripto save my life and its not coming to most places in europe till xmas
And yes, it was awesome. Just a shame nobody is going to watch it. I was reading that the box office take for it was pretty dismal.

I've never read the books, however most of what I've heard from people who've read them and then gone and seen this film say that they treat the books really well. Which is a nice change considering how this kind of thing usually plays out.Gamerforlife wrote:Trying not to read any spoilers in this topic![]()

What does it matter? of course it isn't doing good in theaters. FFS it's a wonder it ever got in theaters. It will make it up in DVD+Blu Ray sales thought.ShadicChao wrote:lisalover1 wrote:Well, would you rather have a 6-hour movie that follows the story by the letter? Re: Scott Pilgrim versus the World
It got its ass handed to it by The Expendables, though I'm inclined to believe it wouldn't have done well no matter what. I get people disagreeing with me when I say that games aren't really mainstream on the same level as other entertainment mediums, but I think Scott Pilgrim's poor performance at the Box Office is very telling. Someone put out a movie that draws from video games and people basically didn't give a shit. Though in fairness the craptitude of other video game movies probably didn't help and I wonder how many more people might have gone to see if the commercials showed gaming references to stuff that is more well known like Halo or Grand Theft AutoDroid party wrote:Wow really? Re: Scott Pilgrim versus the World
Like I said in a previous thread, I have a very good feeling that this film will be remembered as a cult classic. That may be what's best for it, too, given its target audience.
