He didn't really trash it; in the opening he says it's a hate/love game for people. While he does complain about certain aspects you can also sense that he likes the game as well. As a young kid I could not complete this game; I was able to get to the final dungeon but could not finish it. About a month ago I popped the cart in (my save file was amazingly still there) and beat the final dungeon, then completed it again on a replay through the same save file :D

Can't really say much for the CD-i games; haven't played them but they don't look too promising.

Enjoy!
Never mind not saving, how did you do it without vomiting? That game is so, so bad...
A few things:

1. I don't think it's a bad game.

2. Your entitled to your opinion though, and I will respect it.

3. How I did it? Sheer willpower, and as I said before, it was NOT easy. I could go on forever about that, but I won't. :)

Last Halloween, he reviewed nearly all the major Castlevania games. None of them are poopy, (with the exception of Castlevania 64.. ugh..) He also fmaously berates the second game, Simon's Quest, as one of the worst games in history. That's just not true. Yeah, I get why he and some other people might hate it, (looking at you, Nintendo Power,) but honestly, it's not a bad game at all - just different from everything else at the time. Face it - no Simon's Quest ripped Metroid before Sumphony did..

AVGN is just an act - don't take all of his 'reviews' for anything more than hilarious entertainment.

Yeah, he praised Zelda II more than trashed it. Have you actually watched the review?

Anyhow, as for the cd-i Zeldas, I remember hearing that they were unbelievably awful long before AVGN reviewed them.

have you actually played it? I mean I haven't, but HG101 had a really good article about how the CD-i Zeldas are not as bad as everyone assumes. I think the quote was "people would rather be wrong than different."
I have yes, We had a CDi in the early 90's and I've actually played both of the Zelda games. This is the better of the 2 but both are bad games, never played the Live action one.

That's a great quote, it's so very true

He doesn't only review games he hates... you did watch the castlevania one, right?

The one where he mentions that it's one of the best franchises of all time and that Castlevania IV is one of his all time favorite games?
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

They're hit or miss, (too much scat humor,) but the ones I do like I feel are hilarious.. The Super Mario Bros. 3/The Wizard episode is my favorite. Had me rolling with Super Mecha Death Christ..
I have a taste for the absurd. 8)

i wouldn't even go that far with it. i don't think i have ever laughed out loud when watching one of his reviews. not even a chuckle. but i do find him entertaining for the most part.

in fact, i think he is much better when he isn't trying to be funny. i think his best review is when he did the sword quest contest review. if anybody hasn't seen that, i would suggest at least giving it a try.
if you took a shit, please put it back
