WTB IDE/PATA HDDs
I'm looking to find some cheap IDE Hard drives to use for the Ps2 and Original Xbox, preferably between 500 & 750gbs. I tried looking for some refurbished and used ones, but they weren't big enough in size and are a tad overpriced. Can anyone help me find some that are reasonably priced?

for XBOX http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Western+Dig ... Id=8188962
For PS2 you can use the WD but will have to do a little modification to the Network Adapter.
Hitachi,Maxtor,Seagate and Samsung work great on the PS2.
This is the cheapest I found http://cgi.ebay.com/Hitachi-HCP72505GLA ... ltDomain_0

Really, 500-750 GB? I have a 320GB in my Ps2 and it is more than enough space. For the xbox I could see more as it is functionally complete.
Just a side note, for the xbox I have seen success stories for using ide to sata adapters, but I do not have specifics.

Looks tempting, but it's $15 higher than i want to spend. Plus they'll probably charge me $8~$10 shipping.jinn wrote:for XBOX http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Western+Dig ... Id=8188962
Really? I looked at it's page on the PS2 HDD compatibility list, and according to the comments, it fits. If I'll have to do any hardmodding, I'll pass.jinn wrote:For PS2 you can use the WD but will have to do a little modification to the Network Adapter.
I've heard good things about the Maxtor drives, PS2 wise. I've been digging around Ebay to no avail. When i DID find something decent, they happened to not be listed on those HDD compatability list sitesjinn wrote:Hitachi,Maxtor,Seagate and Samsung work great on the PS2.

I tried looking at smaller drives but there pretty overpriced, so i figured I'd at least go for something bigger around the same price range, but no luck. I plan to do a LOT of downloading as well.
Yeah, i read about the whole ide to sata thing, but i cant find any solid info on that working and what drives they used. Until then, I'll stick with a IDE drive.Zandengoff wrote:Just a side note, for the xbox I have seen success stories for using ide to sata adapters, but I do not have specifics.

Is there a storage limit concerning how much space a PATA interface can address?

Re: WTB IDE/PATA HDDs
I have been using SATA2IDE in several Xbox system with no problems.
Using WD-Green-Blue and black 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB HDD.
If you need help or want to try it just PM me for details.
PS2
In order for the WD HDD to fit, you need to remove one screw from the network adapter and cut the metal plate. This will allow you to slide the power connector about 1/4 inch.
