I found a link on Whitney Matheson's Pop Candy blog to some article someone did trying to answer all of the questions that video brought up, but I didn't even finish reading it as it pissed me off so much. Many of his answers consisted of, "Well, who really cares about that" or "Well, the Smoke Monster made machine noises because it's cool"

What an idiot.

As for the polar bears, I seem to recall the show implying that Walt can make things appear, but I don't rememember if it was meant to be taken seriously or just them screwing with us. However, I think it was also mentioned that the cage Sawyer was held in during his season 2 capture by the others was a polar bear cage. This is just one of the TONS of clues we got that Darma did all kinds of animal experiments based around electromagnetic energies. We saw rabbits that could fly and possibly teleport, we saw sharks swimming in the ocean with Dharma logos on them and of course the polar bears. This is one of the few things they've definitively answered so it surprises me that people are still confused about it. And I don't know if someone mentioned Kate seeing a horse on the island. That COULD have been Smokey, but the Russian eyepatch guy I believe had a horse near his little hideout too

Except a polar bear doesnt live that long. They live 20 on the high end, incredibly rarely they live 30 years and in those rare occasions they are very gangly. A polar bear hitting 30 is like a human hitting 120. So the polar bears that Dharma were experimenting on, at the latest it would be the late 80s/early 90s, so in 2004 when the plane crashes, the bear would have to be atleast 18 years old years old. And when they are that old they dont move like that, they may walk fast, but not gallop. I lived with a zoologist for a couple years which is why I know any of this.

The reason I brought it up is that it would make sense that through the Vile Vortices what looks like a ten year old polar bear could be on the island. Which gives a credence to a theory of where the island is:

It is one of the few theories that makes sense to me. But whatever, it make sense to me, it doesnt have to to you.

Ya know, I'm reminded of the theme song to another long-running show.

If you're wondering how he eats and breathes
and other science facts (la la la),
Then repeat to yourself, "It's just a show,
I should really just relax!"

Maybe the polar bears they brought there did a funky little polar bear dance and had a little polar bear?

so for the past few weeks i have been watching LOST. i started with season 1 and i just got through season 5. will probably start season 6 tomorrow.

but holy shit, watching multiple episodes a day makes me appreciate actually how kick ass this show is. having to wait a week between episodes and months between seasons did not cut it me at all; i found the story too hard to follow, especially seasons 4-6, and i missed a lot of things.

but for all those LOST buffs out there i have one question...for now.

in season 3 an Other says something like, "but jack isn't even on 'the list'." fast forward to season 5 and jacob makes a special trip to visit jack in the hospital - almost like a recruiting visit. and even in season 6 jack's name is written in the lighthouse and in a cave. according to seasons 5 and 6, one has to assume that jack was ALWAYS on the list and therefore seasons 3 and 5/6 contradict themselves.

so was this something the writers changed as the series progressed? or am i missing something?

I think that list that was given to an other was just a list of people to grab and not THE list if I remember correctly.
