Lost final season

Post by Gamerforlife »

Lost is getting insane as it heads down the home stretch. If those writers really do have a master plan in mind, we may have an absolutely brilliant finale. Otherwise, it's going to be a train wreck. Hard to say right now. They are throwing answers out at us, but in true Lost fashion, still bringing up new questions. One thing still remains true, there's nothing like it on tv right now

Who is watching?

They keep introducing new ideas and characters even though it supposed to be wrapping up. There are too many loose ends. The only way they can finish it now is just by saying it was all the imaginative dream of some autistic boy.

or Mario...

Still, I like all these 'love at first sight' storylines they have going on now.

One of my coworkers adamantly believes that it is going to end with Hugo in the mental institution and all the main characters being there. I dont buy it, but thats his take. Personally, I think its going to end with Sawyer taking the Jacob position and Locke (well the body of him), sitting on the beach with everyone else landing in as if nothing happened. No real basis for it but gut, but I think it would be a good ending.

Granted Id be happy with most anyway they end it aslong as it is not Highlander 2.

I lost my inclination to invest in this show a long, long time ago.

It basically follows this formula:

Character A is encountered with something strange and inexplicable. Character B tells Character A, "If you follow me into this thingamajig here, I'll explain why we have to do this/why that weird thing happened. Trust me: it'll all make sense if you just help me."

Character A follows Character B into the thingamajig in some dramatic interesting struggle. Character B says, "OK, the reason we did that is because..." then they give some reason that raises even more questions than it answers.

"But if you follow me into the next thingamajig, you'll find out what's at the bottom of all this! I promise!" Character B says.

Don't get me wrong. The show was great when it was about a bunch of different people struggling to survive outside of civilization. But the paranormal crap got exponentially more and more intense, such that I reached the conclusion three or four seasons ago they'd never tie it all up.

The writing on Lost is just so goddamn lazy sometimes. I've accepted every season as it came, but with this being the final one, the sense of needing answers is more prominent, and this 'flash-sideways' shit looks like it won't end well (i.e. make sense) IMO. Considering the foreknowledge Jacob apparently had, this show has taken an absurdly convoluted, winding path that just seems unnecessary.

And I'm a hardcore fan, meaning I'm aware of the behind-the-scenes, off camera, writing and actor related details that possibly contributed to some of it.

The possible 'shark jumping' moment for me was when Faraday remembered specific details of detonating a nuclear bomb in another life...even though he was already dead before that happened...LAZY WRITING.

Oh, and time travel is always a cop-out.

I think it's a little different when time travel is one of the major focuses of the show or film from the beginning. A little Back to the Future anyone?

Speaking of which, that premiers on BBC America tomorrow. I could do a whole new topic on that actually, what with the new doctor and all.

I have faith in Lost's writers, but good or bad, I just need to see how it ends.

How they introduce him at the end of the episode is awesome. I mean I had ALOT of reservations starting this season, but two episodes in and I am a solid fan of Smith. He is still no Patrick Throughton though. Ok, Doctor Who topic time...
