3D pad is the shizzle. It is compatible with all games when set in digital mode, and it is just freaking awesome looking with six buttons, two sholder buttons, an analog stick and a d-pad.

Model 1 for me. Never liked the d-pad on the Model 2 pad - it's usually the other way round for most people, but the Model 1 pad just feels right to me.

The model 1 does have a nice dpad. The primary problem for the model 1 is the shoulder buttons. They get funky really easily.

well i only have the model 1 and 3d pads, i love the d-pad on the model 1, but like everyone else the shoulder buttons suck, one of my controllers right shoulder button doesnt work properly, i dont know if its just dirty and i need to clean it or its really broken, either way the only way i can play virtual-on is with the 3d pad, with its triggers it feels really nice, altho the d-pad is not as good as a model 1. i would really love to get a model 2 pad, but ebay is not so kind to me with trying to find one.

I like the model 2 controller,I'm a big fan of the shape it's probably the best design I have played on.I really like the light gun too,I prefer it over arcade guns.

Forget my noobish-ness since I just got into SS, but which is "model 2", is that the smaller standard SS controller? I have model # MK-80116. I'm thinking that is the "Model 2" you are all referring too. Thanks in advance.

You are correct, that is the Model 2 controller.
