Looks like: a couple run-n-gun, Charlie's Angels-style female action games
What they are: US ports of Gunbird (MLF) and Shikigami no Shiro aka Castle of Shikigami (MLF2)

Also, note how original the covers are. They're practically identical!

Maybe those are suppose to be MiLFs on the cover?

Yeah... I know.

That may be misleading but the art is great.
In those years you had to help the buyer imagination with great art cover cause the in game graphics were quite limited!
You get a lot of those for Amstrad CPC 6128

When I saw the title of this thread Phalanx was the first thing to come to mind. I actually bought a copy of Phalanx recently and had to explain to the store employ what type of game it was because the cartridge label is the same as the box art but without the hyper speed space bit.

Hey now, one is morning light and the other is evening light. There are more robots, explosions, lasers, and a car in the second one. Obviously it's better than the first.

The BAM one makes sense, the guy is so addicted to the game he has not been sleeping, thus the matchsticks keeping his eyes open to stop him falling asleep.

It does seem more like a advert than a front cover though.
