While the Turbografx can play PC Engine HuCards with a converter, it does not work the other way around. The PC Engine (or Supergrafx) MUST be physically modified to play Turbografx HuCards.

So, for ever game you would need a Supergrafx, Super CD-ROM² (or CD-ROM² plus the adapter to connect it to the Supergrafx) and an Arcade Card (either Pro or Duo is fine if you use the Super CD-ROM²).
Aw I fail. :(
May I ask what the difference is between an Arcade PRO and DUO card?
And I wouldn't want to mod a rare-ass Supergrafx anyway.
I am telling you just read this and all questions will be answered
http://pcenginefx.com/main/nec_compatibility_guide.html
Arcade Pro card is used in non super CD-rom attachments to paly arcade card cd-rom games. A arcade duo card is, of course used used for any super cd-rom attachment or PC-engine "DUO" system, Turbo Duo with a convertor.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.

I'll try my best, because I forget the exact technicalities. A certain Swiss friend I have in Yokohama could tell you easily, though!

The original CD-ROM2 add-on has zero built in RAM, while the Super CD-ROM2 (Duo, Duo-R, Duo-RX and Super CD-ROM2 add-on (the orange and brown anal sex one) has Super CD level RAM (1.5MB, I think...). So, the Arcade Pro card has Arcade card RAM PLUS Super CD ROM RAM. The Arcade Duo card only has the additional Arcade level RAM. Therefore, the Arcade Card Pro will work in any PCE because it has arcade-level RAM and Super CD RAM, while the Arcade Card Duo will only work in Super CD-ROM systems because it only has arcade-level RAM. Use the Arcade Card Pro on any system, but the Arcade Card Duo only on systems that already have Super CD capabilities. I hope that mess of text made sense!

And I wouldn't want to mod a rare-ass Supergrafx anyway.[/quote]
Honestly, the Supergrafx isn't all that rare. Not common, but not rare.

If I go back to Japan, I can get you one for $150-160... plus shipping. Are the ebay ones located in Japan?

Yes, and I was not including the 65 dollar shipping.
Im broke, I was just curious how you could play every single NEC game.

At least it isn't as bad as Sega and their genesis.

Actually I'd say TG/PCE is worse and more confusing than Genesis. There are more versions of the hardware and you have several different cards required for the CD systems to work on the older units and several different memory expansion cards needed for the combo ones. The spacer and clips aren't 100% necessary for a 32x, so the cord is the only hard bit if you're wanting to use it with a Gen 1 or 2.

But, to play EVERY game, you would need a Genesis, CD, and 32x from every region. 8)

True (mostly!). AFAIK, the Sega/Mega CD cannot be region modified. You either need three different CD systems (US, EU, JP), or put up with having to play copied discs for CD games from different regions. I believe the 32X also has this problem, although it's not as relevant since there aren't any worthwhile Japanese exclusives on it... unless you are an absolutely hardcore collector.

The Supergrafx can be modified to play games from any region. Add a Super CD-ROM2 add-on and an Arcade Card Duo (or Pro), and it plays everything in the PC Engine/TG-16 lineup.

Ah, I meant worse as in the amount of different hardware versions and the combinations possible as opposed to what it necessary to play all games.

Then, yup, the PC Engine/Turbografx-16 is definitely the most complicated.
