Re: Which consoles should I keep.
No shit.
I have a wife and she's totally cool with me wanting to own every video game console ever made. Not because she wants to please me because I own her, but because she loves me and wants me to be happy, above everything else. And if silly old video games make me feel happy then great. And I feel the same way about her. I've watched her spend 75 dollars on rubber stamps for christ's sake. But if she can sit in a room and stamp shit for 5 hours, and I can spend 5 hours in a room jamming two buttons on a Master System controller and we can both be perfectly happy then that is love.
We are not rich, but any stretch of an imagination. I don't know what you two have, but it isn't love. At all.

Mod the xbox, show her how nice xbmc is, and keep them all.
Re: Which consoles should I keep.
Ok he said they have a limited budget and she doesn't spend money on herself, so I wouldn't presume to tell him that he and his girlfriend don't love eachother. . .
Re: Which consoles should I keep.
There is no reason why you can't have 3 systems, especially since they are 3 old systems with tons of cheap games. It is not like you are trying to support a wii, ps3 and a 360.

This is fair and maybe I'm a little out of line, but the original post clearly states that "she" will not allow "him" to have more than 2 obsolete systems... c'mon now... NOT ONLY THAT is doesn't even say you can only buy one game at a time, or anything sane like that, but that he will have to toss out the DreamCast or GameCube before introducing an XBOX into the household...Ok he said they have a limited budget and she doesn't spend money on herself, so I wouldn't presume to tell him that he and his girlfriend don't love eachother. . .
How effing poor do you have to be to only afford a GameCube, DreamCast and/or XBOX. These systems can be found for around $15, and the games are roughly $3 each. And still be able to afford internet access ($30/month at least) and/or use the library's internet often enough to have Racketboy account.
If you can't afford DC, GC, or XBOX games THEN YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO EAT AND THEREFORE STAY ALIVE either. But you did own one hundred contemporary XBOX games then "got rid of them for cash"... Something is not adding up...
I'm guessing... meth addiction... ?

You should take a shoebox, scrawl "Xbox" on it with a crayon, and tie a remote control to it. Then look really sad while holding the remote and pretending to play the Xbox.
Your wife will feel so bad she'll let you have the Xbox.
100% bulletproof plan.
Who knows; it could be a space issue rather than a money issue. People who don't play video games don't appreciate having their living rooms gunked up by a bunch of systems and all the games that come with them.

After Al and Tipper Gore broke up, I don't think anyone can assess the quality of a relationship from the outside.FiftyDollarCurse wrote:This is fair and maybe I'm a little out of line, but the original post clearly states that "she" will not allow "him" to have more than 2 obsolete systems... c'mon now... Why should you have to get rid of one of the others? That's a load of crap man!

OP, if your woman is making ultimatums about your video games, SHE DOES NOT LOVE YOU (of course, if you're ditching her over a game addition, that is a different problem!). She might be infatuated, but that is not love by any means. Dump her. You WILL be better off.

Suggesting a threesome with your girlfriend's roommate in order to perform the roommate switch sounds like a 100% bulletproof plan but even that can fail.dedalusdedalus wrote:You should take a shoebox, scrawl "Xbox" on it with a crayon, and tie a remote control to it.
