Totalitarian Buddhist Beats Sim City

Post by lisalover1 »

Now there's a headline you don't see every day. Anyway, it seems that an Architecture student from the Philippines "beat" Sim City, by achieving the highest sustainable population density over a long period of time, by creating a totalitarian city-state in the shape of the Buddhist "Wheel of Life". Weird.

Six million sim-citizens and zero roads. This does not qualify as "beating" the game. He simply focused on one goal--maintaining a high population--at the expense of other goals like education, health care, public safety, approval ratings or any of the dozen other goals in Sim City.

Does Sim City have a way of measuring the quality of life for its inhabitants?

Technically, nothing qualifies as beating Sim City. It's still a pretty impressive achievement.

Also, some of those sidebar stories have NSFW images. Just a head's up.

Truth be told, the whole premise of Sim City is totalitarian at its core.

Anybody got a link to the video mentioned in the article? It's not showing up for me for some strange reason.

Edit: Nevermind, it's appeared now.
