Yeah, don't be a retard and buy the SE and then put Sanwa parts in. The stick itself costs $40-50 the new parts cost $50-60 (30~ for the JLW and about 25 for the buttons). You might as well just get the TE and have a much bigger, sturdier stick with the Sanwa parts already in it, plus the box looks really nice.Betamax001 wrote:Haha thats what it seems by the reviews. The only advantage to getting the SE is if you don't like Sanwa parts and prefer HAPP but if that's the case you'd be better off getting a Hori stick since the good ones use HAPP parts (I think).

The one I was looking at was a Hori Fighting Stick 3.

Oh well. It helps that the Hori is almost 100 dollars cheaper.
EDIT: I found this other Hori thats around 100 bucks. Has anyone had any experience with this model?
It has the no character art which I like (don't want to end having SFIV art and find out that the game is crap! I am buying Super SFIV though too so we will find out!) and it looks a bit bigger than the other FS3 I was looking at.

So I just ordered the Real Arcade Pro. 3 from Amazon. It got good reviews so hopefully its not a piece of crap.

The TE is pretty nice and all but IMO if you're gonna spend that much on a stick you might as well get the most bang for your buck and go with Arcade In A Box.

Why? The TE will use all the same parts, the only thing that's different is the container. I mean, it's not like they've put crappy parts into it. It's all Sanwa parts with Quick-disconnects. The AIAB will be identical, the only difference is a choice in layout and the container it's put in. To buy the parts alone would cost you around $60. The entire stick is only $40 on top of that. If anything were overpriced, It's the AIAB ones.SplashChick wrote:The TE is pretty nice and all but IMO if you're gonna spend that much on a stick you might as well get the most bang for your buck and go with Arcade In A Box.

Identical? Not hardly, the construction is completely different and so are the options you have for parts and customization. Sure, if you specifically want those Sanwa parts and don't care about anything else the TE may be a good option, but almost everyone I've ever asked has said they prefer the circle gate motion of the Happ joystick. I mean if the TE is exactly what you want, go for it, but if I was gonna spend that kind of money on a stick anyway I'd rather put forth a few extra dollars to get the exact parts I want with custom artwork and layout. I mean, maybe I just played more arcade games than you, but to me there's just something more gratifying about playing on an arcade panel rather than a standard plastic one.Niode wrote:Why? Do you really notice the difference between laminated wood and plastic during a game? If you don't like Sanwa parts you wouldn't be looking at getting a TE anyway. If you know the difference then you're going to know that the TE uses Sanwa.SplashChick wrote:Identical?
