I would guess that it took me about eight hours. Maybe ten at the most. I explored most, if not all, of the castle too.dsheinem wrote:Just out of curiosity - how long is SOTN for a standard first-time run through? I know you can get 200+%, but if I just want to play through the story and maybe do an average of amount of detouring, exploring, etc. - how long should it take?

Alright, so I began playing Castlevania today, and so far I am very impressed. Great graphics, great music, and most of all- great dialogue- I was laughing hysterically when Dracula says, " Have at you!" Another thing that was really cool was after Dracula transforms(in the prefix to the game) the whole backround just drops away square by square which I thought was very cool and trippy- I only played to the first save point, but so far, it has been fun!

What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk... Have at you!

I had watched a friend trying to get the achievement on live for no damage during that first fight. That dialog had me cracking up. "You steal mens souls!"jfe2 wrote:What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk... Have at you!

I always thought that Richter sounded considerably worse than Dracula.

Might I make a suggestion? Follow Symphony of the Night up with Ico. Both are excellent games, but Ico is extremely short and could be knocked out in a couple of days at most. It will make a nice palette cleanser after SotN.
While I don't have a list of games I wish to beat, there are a few I've been focusing on lately:
Breath of Fire
The Simpsons: Hit & Run
Saints Row 2
And I've been thinking about trying out No One Lives Forever, along with a couple more FPS.

I was playing the Japanese Saturn version to compare the two last night, and I have to say that Richter doesn't sound as weak in that version... even though I had no idea what he was saying. I just assume that it was the same, or similar, dialog.Dylan wrote:I always thought that Richter sounded considerably worse than Dracula.
