There were two Konami ones released for the 360 this week but each have 3 games and cost $20!

Not worth it yet - but I would pick them up used/cheap later...

SNK needs to put out a disc with all the rotary controller games on it. The arcade Ikari games would be cool but I really want Time Soldiers. I keep looking at the SMS version, but I know its just not going to cut it so I haven't bought it. Dual stick would be a good enough substitute for a rotary stick.

Dave, that's a killer collection of collections. So meta.

I also have gotten into collecting these, but I don't have tons of room for all of them. I just got Midway Treasures 1 yesterday. Been looking for the revised box art that matches parts 2 & 3 just because I'm anal like that. It's kind of irritating how publishers change the art/spine so that volumes of the same collection look different.

The Capcom collections have good emulation, as far as I can tell. The Taito collections do, too. The Taito comps include a hell of a lot of games. I like having these on the PS2 because the d-pad works well for retro and 2D. I really like the new Genesis collection for current consoles, too. Raiden Fighters Aces is a stellar comp - so many display options, they really did it right.

I'm hoping we'll see more comps on disc this gen. I realize publishers will want to sell them digitally for more money per title without distribution costs, but I hope they will consider discs. I really don't think we will see more retro comps than we did last gen, though. Large storage on discs and powerful machines but no digital distro in place yet = a great environment for comps.

One of them has Castlevania SOTN on it. I'm such a SOTN fan that I considered buying it even though I already have the XBLA release. I think it would just load up the same save files and achievements when you put the disc in. If it had seperate achievements I'd be all over it.

I already pre-ordered the Data East Collection. Looks good.

How many Game "Collections" do you own?

Post by Pichu »

I have found recently that a good number of my PC games are collections of games(I only have 15 PC games),
and i don't know why, but it may have something to do with saving money.
I also plan to get a lot of retro collections on current gen consoles, so there's those to. And many other game collections I wish to get. Which game "collections" do you own? Here are mine:

Metroid Prime Trilogy
Intellivision Lives! GC
Dr. Mario/Puzzle League
Super Mario All Stars
Battlefield 1942 complete Collection
Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania and Contra
The Sim City Box
Sonic and Knuckles Collection
Star Craft Battle Chest

you?

Hmmm, off the top of my head I can only think of Megaman Collection and Megaman X Collection. I'm not big on these sorts of things. More fun to play the originals, but collections with extras or refinements are nice

I don't know if Dracula X Chronicles counts. I just got that for the improved version of Symphony of the Night. Though having the only official US release of Rhondo of Blood along with a remake is a nice bonus
