+1 to separate Sony and Microsoft. They don't even like each other.

+1 for platformers genre

Also maybe you could create category that is solely discussions of specific games. Sort of like Together retro but more broad. For instance someone will make a thread about Super Mario 3 or and that's all it will be about. This category would make an emphasis on the nuances and such from specific titles. I have no clue what you would call the section.

For everyone suggesting breaking out the Sony/MS/whatever into their own sections, we had a discussion about this before. Those areas are lower traffic as is with the 4 we have. If we separate them more, we'll end up with sections that only get 1 or 2 new threads a week, so it's pointless. Moving SNK on its own seems the most pointless. They only had 1 console and handheld (more or less) that few people own and a large number of SNK games were fighting. An SNK section would be a barren wasteland of posts.

For genres, maybe Puzzle/rhythm. There might be enough posts if Tetris, GH, DDR, and the like were together since they are generally about timing and placement.

I think the only neccesary forum would be a PC forum. Nothing else.

That was brought up before, but since there are cross platform games between PC/360/PS keeping them together helps reduce clutter when talking about some games.

That is why it needs to be a computer forum rather than PC. MS does not cover Atari or Commodore or Apple and the like.
