I think Adventure games would be a good category. It fits in with the Hardcore motif. By adventure, of course I mean games like Moinkey Island, Myst, Pajama Sam, etc.

I second that, and I do think you could separate Sony and MS, since the PS2 and Xbox should be considered "retro" by now.

Platformers

Quirky/Offbeat games (Chibi Robo, Kururin Squash, Katamari Damacy, Mr. Mosquito, etc.) It may be difficult to write this one up, since "quirky games" are not really a genre, but the feeling that certain games give you when you play them. But even if it's difficult to give a history of this kind of game, why not talk about them? There are many people out there always looking for a different kind of gaming experience, and these games are sure to please them!

+1 vote Platformers

+1 vote Adventure games

+1 vote to separate Sony and Microsoft

Nominating giving SNK it's own section.

I agree with adding Platformers, and also think FPS should have its own genre subforum. Im not sure any other genre is popular enough or common enough to deserve one - especially not point and click adventure, unless I'm missing the enormous amount of adventure game discussion that apparently goes on around here. Also, calling the forum 'adventure' would be somewhat confusing, because I immediately think of action adventure games like Shenmue, Ico, Zelda and Metroid when I hear that genre title.

I dont agree with seperating Sony & Microsoft, but I do agree with the idea of giving computers (PC etc) their own forum. Whether older systems like Commodre 64 should also go in there or not I don't know.

Don't agree with giving SNK it's own section:
Nintendo: NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, Virtual Boy, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS, soon to be 3DS

Sega: Master System, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear

Sony & Microsoft: Playstation, PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox, 360

SNK: Neo Geo, Neo Geo Pocket Color....

Seems a bit redundant with so few systems being covered.
