I think you guys are being a bit harsh on the dude, he was bringing up a topic for discussion which everyone immediately decided was trolling and proceeded to personally insult him, which seems a little troll-y to me. We've all had some less than eloquent posts, cut the guy some slack.
He does make a good point though, from my own anecdotal experience, and from my (albeit limited) knowledge of the actual numbers, the Xbox 360 is doing quite a bit better than the PS3 overall. The 360 has become quite infamous for its problems (RROD et al), and yet it still seems to be the more popular console. I'm a huge supporter of the PS3, and I personally think that it's by far the better console (not trying to start a flame war, just opinion here), and I think it's more a sign of changing times than anything. This is the first real internet console generation, and I think it's making the marketing of systems more difficult. The 360 was out for a while before the PS3, which gave it time to build up a userbase before the PS3 could provide competition. I think this is the key, because when someone who has neither console goes to get one of them, there's a new factor to consider: which console do my friends have?
And keep in mind guys, that when speaking of consoles and their pros and cons, sometimes we need to step out and look at the bigger picture. We're all pretty knowledgeable on this board, and we take our games seriously, and thusly have pretty different opinions than the general population. Just something to consider.
P.S. Holy crap this is way too long of a post, I sense a lot of TL;DRs coming my way
[Edit: Wow in the time it took me to write all this, this thread got even worse. This could have been a very interesting discussion, pity that it's not turning out that way.]
