How they introduce him at the end of the episode is awesome. I mean I had ALOT of reservations starting this season, but two episodes in and I am a solid fan of Smith. He is still no Patrick Throughton though. Ok, Doctor Who topic time...
As I go off topic in my own topic lol. I saw the premiere last night. I like the new doctor, though I don't quite see what differentiates him from Dave Tenant's doctor. He acts mostly the same way. The main difference I see is that he's a bit less considerate(the 14 year thing)or he's just way more absent minded than the last doctor. He also seems to really like thinking of himself as a hero. For all his arrogance, I don't think Tenant's doctor ever referred to himself as a hero. Beyond that though, I feel the difference between Tenant's doctor and his predecessor was much more noticeable. They were like two different people

All in all, a good premier and I've quickly taken a liking to his new companion. And the little tribute to previous doctors they threw in. Very classy. What I would like to see is some repercussions from his last regeneration as Dave Tenants doctor seemed VERY reluctant to pass on. I think there could be an interesting story in there somewhere

Seeing old doctors always makes me happy - which is probably why Time Crash was so awesome. If you havent seen it:

That and both the Three Doctors and The Five Doctors. Hopefully they will do a Seven Doctors this season. Oh I hope they do.

Last weeks was ok, it was a decent Dalek episode. This week brings back the Blink statues...oh yeah baby. Its odd though, I finished watching the Churchhill/Dalek episode and then I turned on the TV and the BBC America episode was edited. They cut out random parts for reasons unknown. Nothing huge, but enough to make the episode kinda jumpy.

I noticed this once with one of the season finales. I think it was the one involving Doctor Donna and the clone Doctor. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't watched it online first. I was not happy at all. They cut out some good stuff. Seeing Dr Who on BBC America is the easiest way for me to catch it though since I can't always get the episodes online, so I try not to think about whatever may be edited, but it's definitely not cool that they do that. See I view every episode of a good show as a piece of art, it irritates me. You wouldn't go and tamper with a Mona Lisa now would you?

I have not yet seen the original Blink episode but I have heard of it a thousand times and they talked about it on this Doctor Who special that aired before the premiere. It looks like a very good episode. I like creepy episodes and this one seemed like one of the creepier episodes they've done. Made me think of "Hush" on Buffy, which is considered one of that show's creepier episodes

Looks like we're finally getting the back story on Jacob and the smoke monster tonight. The whole episode has been a flashback so far. Interesting

does anybody here actually know what the fuck is going on?

once this series ends - and it is about damn time - i am going to have to go back to probably season 4 and re-watch everything again. call me stupid, but i will probably have to watch it a third and fourth time before i actually grasp everything and am able to fit all the pieces together. there is just WAY TOO much shit being thrown at you every episode.

did anybody else scream at the screen after the flashblack of doc, kate, and locke finding the island's "own adam and eve?" i hate how the writers are trying to connect events from previous seasons to make it look like they are smart, like they had EVERYTHING planned out from the very beginning. BULLSHIT. that was season 1. there is no way they had those connection in mind 5 years ago.

i like the series, but i get the impression they just make shit up season by season and hope everything works out in the end.
if you took a shit, please put it back

They DID have exactly those kind of connections in mind all along, sorry to tell you. They have referenced "Adam and Eve" multiple times in podcasts the past several years as just such a specific connection.

People bitch about this show because there are "no answers" or connections, and now at the end when they provide them, people bitch some more. Hilarious!

I know about 5% of the show's story. I have been saving it for the finale. If it ends on a high note I might consider watching it.

That's true and it is funny when people get mad at show for being too complicated. That's actually what makes the show so awesome to me.

And no, they don't make up everything as they go along. You're thinking of another show called Battlestar Galactica(I'm talking about the modern BSG, not the original) where they literally did make up EVERYTHING as they went along. I know with Lost there are definitely a bunch of stuff that they did come up with as they went along, but they've always stated that they knew how the story ends and they had it planned out for a very long time. Everything else that they added as they went along was just to give the show a longer lifespan and flesh out the show's universe.

I liked this episode. Made smoke monster not seem so evil. I mean he is evil now sure, but it's not surprising given his crazy, fake mom and what she did to him. I actually find Jacob rather disturbing in how he just accepts every wrong thing she does. I guess that's a good example of blind faith. He is like Locke used to be with smoke monster being a lot like Jack was earlier in the show. It's that whole faith versus reason thing again

I dont think that the Esau character that Jacob buried is the smoke monster. I think that the smoke monster is some embodiment of evil that just took over his form, much like how it is Locke right now. I just want to know exactly what that bloody thing is. I mean it fought Anubis and Mr. Eko.

i know of the adam and eve references blah blah blah. but you are telling me the writers since season 1 knew that those 2 people were going to be mother and brother of jacob? if i remember correctly, doc makes the comment after examining the clothing of "adam and eve" that it takes "years" for clothes to degrade. all i know is jacob, brother, and mother are over a few hundred years old. i am pretty sure when doc made the comment of "years" he didn't originally have a few hundred in mind.

and it is similar to when doc in the first season kept on "seeing" his father. turns out, a few episodes ago we learn it was "locke" taking on father's body form. its like they are just randomly writing bits and pieces into the story so people can say, "look!! they are making connections back to season 1!"

and the reason why everybody is "bitching" is because no answers are being resolved. yeah, we learn stuff here and there, but it is nothing major. people want to know the REAL answers. why were THEY picked, who is the smoke monster, who is LOCKE. this is just scratching the surface. the list can go on and on. here we are with 2 episodes left and they are still introducing new characters and new elements to the mystery.

i can tell you like the series. i like it to. but common, you have to admit it is flawed and overly dragged out.
