Final Fantasy "discussions" always have to turn so ugly.jfrost wrote:You must know a lot about corporate decision-making.AppleQueso wrote:That's enix's old baggage, square doesn't care where it goes.jfrost wrote:Dragon Quest X is going to be on the Wii though.

The sarcasm in that quote pyramid is so thick I think I might use it as a butter substitute.jfrost wrote:You must know a lot about corporate decision-making.AppleQueso wrote:That's enix's old baggage, square doesn't care where it goes.jfrost wrote:Dragon Quest X is going to be on the Wii though.

It does taste good, I assure you.

I'd imagine Square doesn't care about much of anything these days. Marionettes tend to leave all the worries to the manipulator - which means that Enix must have it's hands full.AppleQueso wrote: That's enix's old baggage, square doesn't care where it goes.
And no - you won't see a port of Final Fantasy XIII, unless Nintendo actually cared enough to finance it's development.
And why would they? Microsoft had a reason, as they and Sony are still fighting for second place. Nintendo could (and, I imagine, has for the past 3 years now) do absolutely nothing with the Wii for the next ten years and still be able to use fresh Benjamins as kindling and septic paper.
Yes, we've seen ports of the Final Fantasy games on the GBA and PSP, but the GBA is practically a portable SNES and the PSP is a portable PSX. It was no problem.

rebuilding the game from the ground up? hahahahahahahaha. clearly you haven't played FF13. the game is so linear the only thing they would need is to downgrade the textures to non-HD quality. which is really easyAppleQueso wrote:Because porting to a console with significantly inferior hardware would require essentially rebuilding the game from the ground up, something which would cost a lot of time and money, which I'm sure square would rather spend somewhere else.

And the poly count of the models. And you might have to downgrade futher because you might still be above the size of a single DVD, and I don't know if the Wii can even support disc switching.ZeroAX wrote:rebuilding the game from the ground up? hahahahahahahaha. clearly you haven't played FF13. the game is so linear the only thing they would need is to downgrade the textures to non-HD quality. which is really easyAppleQueso wrote:Because porting to a console with significantly inferior hardware would require essentially rebuilding the game from the ground up, something which would cost a lot of time and money, which I'm sure square would rather spend somewhere else.

wha...hu....how.....why...........................................................why would you think the wii doesn't support the basic function of disk based consoles? yeah it's not exactly state of the art hardware, but it's not total garbage. it can do at least what the previous gen managed.MrPopo wrote: and I don't know if the Wii can even support disc switching.
though you might be right about the polygon count. still it's always easy to shave off stuff (at least compared to building it)
