Honestly, when reading all the posts in this thread, it makes me feel a little light headed.
Especially that train one with the twisting bodies, I just imagine, how would that feel, and my body feels a little tingly.

What's worse is how people think of this stuff...

I think that really any form of historical capital punishment would be an awful way to die. Being skinned alive is probably the worst I can think of, but being hung drawn and quartered would also be extremely horrible. Probably in second place would be Ling chi or the breaking wheel (in its more macabre forms), but immolation would also be terrible.

Now that I think about it, there are actually tons of awful ways to die.

Have you read A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich? Bad, yes, but I can think of worse ways to go.
