Yeah, it's fun to see the fusion. All the bandis wear hakama and all the NPCs are clearly Japanese, but they all speak with a pure southern accent (except the sensei).
I agree with MrPopo, the comat is very fluid and balanced and the range of moves you have is wide. I love the stylish graphics, music and voice acting. There are some awesome cut scenes to watch although I have already come across one QTE sections (yak).
Fortunately, the QTE section is done in a non-assholish way. If you fail you only have to redo the one event you screwed up, not the whole chain.

I just picked up a Wii for the first time this past weekend, and actually had this game in my hand and ready to buy, but I put it down at the last second. I really just wanted to see what people thought of it, and I'm glad to see that people seem to be enjoying it!
How does the Wii motion plus feel? Is there a distinct difference, or does it come off as a gimmick?

from the wii sports resort i can say there is a huge difference. There is a slight delay in your actions to the on screen actions, but it is pretty amazing. Most of the wii games that don't use it kind of just know when you shake the remote vs fluid actions. waggle. And then they use a canned animation rather than a 1:1 response.
Thing is- this is a nintendo add on. Who knows how much support it is actually going to get. Wii sports resort and red steel 2 are the only games that have interested me so far.
MP+ does make a huge difference. In RS2 the movements are mapped 1:1 in general sword combat, although certain button presses and gestures will trigger the animations for special moves which obviously arent 1:1.
Grand Slam Tennis used MP+ pretty well, although you couldnt tell the difference until you tried to play without it.
Hopefully we'll start to get more games use it as it really does deserve more attention.
