eBay Not a Registered User problem - Quick question

Post by l005cr3w »

Hope this is the right place to ask for this kind of question lol.

So I bought an item from eBay, and it has already been about 10 days since my payment but the item is still haven't marked as shipped.

Earlier today I tried sending an eBay message to the seller, asking for confirmation whether my item has been shipped or not.

Then just now I got an e-mail from eBay Loss Prevention Department stating the "listing for the following item you bid on has been removed", followed by another eBay email, "Account Security Communication Partner Warning" stating that the "account (the seller's) was recently found to have been accessed by an unauthorized third party, who may have used the account in an attempt to defraud other members."

Then I checked the seller's account and he's now a Not a Registered User. eBay must've removed him. Now I want a refund of my money; should I really attempt to contact the seller directly through his e-mail or just open an Item-not-received dispute through/with PayPal? I'm still kinda new to this whole eBay and Paypal thingy TBH.

Call ebay/paypal or visit their user help forums. There's not much we can help you with...

It's a slim chance, but see if they've withdrawn your paypal funds yet. If they haven't (unlikely) you could cancel payment.

Regardless, contact Paypal. Ebay is only the market place and can't do much for you after the sale is made.

Paypal has a pretty good record of protecting consumers. They have to since we're the entire reason paypal exists. It might take some time but you'll likely get your money back.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Definitely go through Paypal. I believe they have certain rules about putting a holding period on to funds that someone receives to prevent this sort of shenanigan.

Sell fake item -> collect funds -> launder money to other paypal / bank account - > profit!

My suggestion is open a dispute/claim on paypal to get your money back. The seller was probably selling fake items, or knock offs.

In the event of a paypal dispute, they will attempt to contact the seller, and reach an agreement which will satisfy both your needs. However, if they seller really did take you money and run, they will more than likely return all your money without a hitch.

Heres how it went down for me:
I told paypal I got ripped off
Paypal told seller I want my money back, you have 14 days to tell us why you deserve to keep his money
14 days later, no response from seller, so I got to keep the item (a knock off DS game), and got all my money refunded back to my paypal.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
