All of you need to stop for a second.

The hardcore platformer.

When was the last time you played a game that tested your skills AND was fun AND not infuriating (no, the ROM hacking community doesn't help much, they only like to release Kaizos), like Super Mario Brothers 2 Japan?

Can't think of any?

It's been a while, right?

The only one I can think of Sonic Advance 2 on hard mode.

That's what I thought. We are making a hole at the bottom of this barrel aren't we?

One of the reasons a bunch of guys left Konami to form Treasure is because they didn't want to make a bunch of sequels. They stuck to that until the GBA Gunstar Super Heroes came out. I doubt they want to make another.

Drag Wars was originally intended to be another trilogy back in the day. Considering all the things that happened to Interplay along the intervening years and how different the Bard's Tale 'revival' was, I don't see it really coming back. That being said, you should go check out Devil Whiskey. I haven't played it, but it looks like an awesome fan revival of that type of game.

Not a resurrection per say, but standalone games from Square-Enix like Live A Live and The World Ends With You would be awesome to focus more on, especially in a market inundated with sequels.

Surprised no one has mentioned battletoads. Also X-Fighter/Tie Fighter series. Maybe its just me but I would love to have another Army Men game that was similar to the originals.

Battle Chess
Illusion of Gaia
Kid Icarus

a closer look reveals that these also have sequels

Battle Chess sequels:

Battle Chess - Enhanced
Battle Chess 2 - Chinese Chess
Battle Chess 4000

Illusion of Gaia prequel and sequel:

Soul Blazer - Prequel
Terranigma - Sequel

Kid Icarus sequel:

Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters

but yes, Kid Icarus needs a new installment

The Granstream Saga is also a spirtual sequel to the Quintet's Blazer series. But we aren't debating what games had sequels or need sequels, aren't we talking about what Franchises should be brought back? I generally consider a game to be a Franchise if there is more then one or has spinoffs like toys, comics, cartoons, ect, ect........

Yeah I know they didn't want to make sequels. That doesn't stop me from wanting one.

I did know about ghoul patrol, haven't played it, but the topic was franchises that need to be resurrected, not games that need sequels so I just mentioned the first.

Also, I want another dynamite dux game.

And the other thing.

All of these games need sequels, badly. There are still so many that aren't coming to mind at this time, though.
