Whats the best 3rd Party N64 controller?
Re: Whats the best 3rd Party N64 controller?
I bought a Superpad 64 Plus for $10 from local classifieds last week. It's a bit strange at first but it doesn't take long to get used to it. The joystick is also excellent.

ta da:
uses PS2-style potentiometer joystick rather than that shitty grindy optical N64 stick. The overall shape is great as well. The D-Pad also kicks serious ass compared to those god damn too-flat Nintendo D-Pads.

I read a couple reviews on that one ... didn't seem like the reviewers liked them much.

well they reviewed it wrong, then, it doesn't get much better on N64. I'll admit the Z button is a little thin, but everything else is awesome.fuctfuct wrote:I read a couple reviews on that one ... didn't seem like the reviewers liked them much.

I wouldn't call it reviewing it wrong, because reviews can be subjective.17DaysOlderThanNES wrote:well they reviewed it wrong, then, it doesn't get much better on N64. I had one back in the day and while it was well built, I would always choose the 1st party controller over it if I could. In this case, where fuctfuct doesn't like the 1st party controller, he might find it to be his "default" controller.
My only complaint was that I thought it was too big, but that's probably not an issue anymore since I am no longer 10.

that's why they call statements like that "jokes"lwcook wrote:

I like the 1st party controller OK, and my joysticks are fine, but it is a little small for my hands nowadays. The MadCatz controller really helps with big hands, much like the MadCatz DreamPad does for the Dreamcast. MadCatz: helping people with big hands since 19 something something.lwcook wrote: I had one back in the day and while it was well built, I would always choose the 1st party controller over it if I could. The super smooth joystick on the MadCatz is undeniably better, though.

Maybe that's just a case of crappy Analog sticks, shouldn't it be easily replaceable by an official Gamecube stick and then have it's PCB possibly crammed in an official controller's case?fuctfuct wrote:I read a couple reviews on that one ... didn't seem like the reviewers liked them much.

the problem is that the back end for rumble packs are too small too fit. Well at least the Transfer Pack is too small.17DaysOlderThanNES wrote:ta da:
