JT I would like Super Laser Racer alot more if it was multiplayer. Dont get me wrong it is an awesome game, but lack of multiplayer hurts it in my book. It is ripe for lan party play.
Third for the first Carma and expansion. The second and third ones I didn't care for as much and didn't get very far in them due to times missions annoying me. But the first one is just glorious insanity.

Yeah I hated 2000.

Carmageddon is awesome, I wish somebody would remake it faithfully. I'd just like to be able to mow down innocent pedestrians in HD damnit!

Does anybody know of a reliable way of getting Carmageddon to work on Windows 7? Are there any hi-res texture packs available?

If XP compat mode isn't working, perhaps a no-cd patch? Slave Zero officially 'did not work on 2K/XP', but it was only the copy protection that didn't work, so a no CD patch and it worked fine. Granted Carmageddon is older, but maybe worth a try.

Dudes! Interstate 76! That game was awesome. I still have the Nitro Pack for that game, which had a pretty decent expansion in it.

For a technical simulator, you can't get better than GTR-2.

It just got re-released on gog too. You can get it for $5.99 and it will work on XP & Vista.

What are Altitudes controls? I just now found out about this game and it looks ripe for an arcade cabinet.

Ill second GTR-2. I prefer LiveforSpeed but GTR is a fantastic game.

How do you plan on controlling the game? Do you have a wheel, pad, or just the mouse/keyboard.

Microsoft Midtown Madness. Other drivers yell at you as you run by them.

I doubt the OP is into old games like Interstate or Carmageddon. I seriously doubt he'll even try looking them up online. Sadly other than NFS Shift I don't think there are many good games that match your criteria. The only two that I can recommend are these

Image

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box. It looks shiny, has a decent damage model, and is not limited to racing. The cars aren't licensed ones, mind.

Test Drive Unlimited has real cars but you have to drive around the map like in NFS Underground. I don't think it has a damage model.

Forgot to mention this older PC Racer is free roaming not a fixed path. The best, its made by the Rockstar Team! Jump those drawbridges!
