Re: Essential Gameboy Games?
As a fan of the GBA installment (one of the few Gameboy games I managed to get "100%" on), I have to track down DK 94! I didn't realize how cool it was until I started reading comments like yours and some of the 'best of Game Boy' posts around the net.noiseredux wrote:I'll tell you one thing, the Game Boy DK's are unbelievable. I mean literally. The first time I played one I could not believe how much the managed to squeeze into a little cart.
And regarding portable Excite Bike- I found a copy of the GBA Classic NES port for $3 at a local shop. Let's just say I would have paid at least $4.25. This is one game that, to me, nostalgia doesn't quite make up for. Maybe loops would make all the difference....

Donkey Kong 94 is an excellent title, and is only made better by the Super Gameboy.

It really is. Not to put too much stock in "Top Whatever" lists, but it was one of the very few (maybe the only) GameBoy games to make EGM's Top 200 Games of Their Time list in its 200th issue. One of those games that's fun to go back and run through every so often.fastbilly1 wrote:Donkey Kong 94 is an excellent title, and is only made better by the Super Gameboy.

DK 94 is indeed amazing. Although I was actually talking about the DKLand games earlier...

BAH Humbug!
DKLand games were great, amazing visually, but DK94 is the title I always go back to on it.

Yeah Donkey Kong on gameboy was amazing. I remember buying that game on release for something to keep me occupied whilst flying. It never got put down, for weeks, I played that thing from start to finish.
Anyone else notice the little parallels and nods in the Mario VS Donkey Kong games? The game is practically a predecessor to MvDK.

Hi there! I joined the forums after seeing this thread, im a gb enthusiast too.
I stick with Wario land, Street Fighter, Six Coins, Zelda and Tetris for a "mainstream" list, but theres a hell lot of playable shit. I specially enjoy Battle Arena Toshinden , cant find a cheap copy of World Heroes Jet 2.
