Of course you can spoil this yourself by youtubing it, but I wouldn't if I were you.

Remember that last screen of the game after you beat it, Dr.Robotnik LAUGHING at you? Still juggling those gems?

Get those gems man! I have always thought that it was worth it to collect the gems.

Aww, come on, after he reads that and psyches himself way up, when he actually sees the "good ending" for himself, he may be so disappointed he never wants to play another Sonic game as long as he lives.

From Sonic 2 on, however, the reward for collecting all the Chaos Emeralds is without a doubt the best god damn thing ever. There's no possibility that you won't be blown away when you experience it.

I don't blame you, it was released on a poorly marketed bastard of a console. Half the reason it's my favorite is because of the music. Not only are there an assload of tracks for a platforming game in the early ninties, they all kick ass. (my favorite is Stardust Speedway Bad Future)
Didn't you get the memo? You need to complain about the american music that replaced the FAR BETTER JAPANESE MUSIC. Things from Japan are automatically better because it makes you look totally informed and reveals your refined taste. I pity all those pathetic people who like the american sonic cd music, how dare they enjoy what they got.

Untrue. There is one thing better than the reward for collecting all the Chaos Emeralds, and that's for collecting all the Emeralds AGAIN.

Lol no. The US version is better.

Dear God, man - I have a midterm tomorrow! I can't have the tremendous urge to go about the timeless ritual of plugging all kinds of Sega shit into other Sega shit and complete the majesty of Sonic 3 & Knuckles on my mind right now! CUH-MON!!

I use to think the same thing when I was younger (And quite a little Ninty fanboi) when I was like 13 I played a Dreamcast, my love for Sega kicked off and I back tracked.

I was heaps surprised when I played through Sonic, then Sonic 2, both amazing games but number 2 is a big step up. I finished them both (but @ 50hz, like slow mo, bullshit), I have since modded my MD for 60hz, but its black & white until I get some RGB consoles or mod the color crystal, once I do, I will start collecting MD games again, Sonic 3 is top of my list.

To be honest, they're both fucking epically good. You don't hear soundtracks as good as EITHER of them anymore - I personally like the Japanese version better just because it's so unique and I like its upbeat feel, which is more what I associate with Sonic the Hedgehog... many tracks are like proto-Jet Set Radio with a touch of NiGHTS. The US version does alot of things right, and in fact I would consider a couple of the tracks to be downright superior, but alot of the tracks seem more suited for maybe Ecco the Dolphin or Streets of Rage or... dear God, I'm missing Sega again ;___;
