I've thrown quite a few hours down the Peggle hole, though lately Puzzle Quest has latched onto me like barbed wire.

I'm in total agreement! I'm going to bible college, just got married and have a full time job and just don't have that much time to play games. Most of my free time goes to reading, studying, hanging out with my wife(sometimes we play games together, but dice we've been married she's privacy played games just as much as I have). Adding to the problem is my newfoud emulation addiction, ihad never used mame before and have recently begun playing shmups and run-n-guns like they're dissapearing. The last long or involved game I've played was breath of fire for snes and I didn't even finish it after 14 hours. When I do play games theyre usually more pick up and play or multiplayer games on wii.
NES, SNES, N64, Genesis + 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast, PSP, Game Gear, Gameboy , Playstion, Wii!

Congratulations on your marriage. Be sure to milk the "newlywed" thing for a month or two.

whats bible college?

and Luke,
I can understand if you have a 360 and you want to play Super mario World

but I have hard time understanding owning a SNES yet you want to play pac-man on atari, specially that the SNES can deliver a better version.
Sure Atari is retro but its very old to be fun, and games never end :D

Ms. Pac Man is perfect on Atari, as well as a library full of great games.

Yeah, most of the games don't end, but it is all about getting that elusive high score.

I follow a similar principle that I use for tv shows:
- Regardless of the title I will give it atleast three episodes/hours of gameplay. If they dont have me hooked within the first three hours, odds are they wont have me hooked period. Now if this is a super long title/series I will scale it up to 10ish hours/episodes. But I rarely play super long titles anymore (except on handhelds).
- If I am on track to finish it and I loose motivation - ie favorite character is killed, well Ill finish the story but odds are will not complete all the quests/tasks
- If I really like the title, Ill do everything. Me really liking a long title is rare though. Even the huge Zelda fan in me had trouble trying to find reason enough to find all the heart pieces in Twilight Princess. On the otherside, I have almost all the statues in Windwaker.

This has worked well for me. Now it doesnt apply to titles like shooters or something like Spelunky, but for the longer titles it works. The only exception to this for long games is quality point and click adventure games. Even if I hate the game, I will buy and complete it so they will hopefully make more good ones. Granted out of the fifty or so of them I have played, the only ones I dont really like are the Simon the Sorcerer titles.

I don't think I'd be opposed to dev's taking a year off. I have a large backlog spanning multiple generations and limited time. Add in a dash of $2 or $5 steam deals which have made me extremely stingy when buying new games now, and the end result is having no desire to spend much on games. My friend keeps yelling at me to get MW2, but I keep telling him I will when I can get it for $20.

But you should be able to easily get Mechwarrior 2 for $20. Just make sure you get the DOS version, as that's the one that's easiest to run on modern PCs.

Me too! I even think I have my original CD around here somewhere. I think you need the Windows 95 version for network play though, don't know how well that would work in this era.
