A neat article I saw on Digg. I think it's pretty true. It's probably not like this for everyone, but I stopped beating games regularly after the N64/GBA stopped.

And one thing is for a fact - I read about videogames WAY more, than I really play them. Sometimes I don't touch any game for days. But every single day, I spend a few hours reading about games, watching game videos, talking about them and so on.

Re: Please Stop Making Games
Backlogs are the result of having a lot more disposable income and a lot less free time than when you were a kid. When I was a kid, I played the crap out of Dragon Warrior III and IV because I'd have to wait until next Xmas or my next bday to get another game.
These days, I play a game until I hit a part that bores me, then I plunk down a bit more cash for another game...

This is the way it is for me. Except every summer, I take any and all cash I collected thats disposable, and I throw it onto ebay for games, games, and more games. Play them over the summer. Spread them out over the next year. Then I rinse and repeat.
Older. Not wiser.

I have a new game arriving at an average rate of one a week. And these are just the games that I've had on preorder because they looked good. Then toss in the random older games that I pick up because I've heard something good about it or I remember that it came out years ago. So I bounce around between games like crazy.
