Saturn no longer works after installing mod chip
Saturn no longer works after installing mod chip
I just installed my mod chip and the lens on my Saturn no longer moves to read a disk. Did I break my Saturn while installing the chip?

What model of Saturn do you have? (32-pin/64-pin/Sanyo)lxNoMaDxl wrote:I just installed my mod chip and the lens on my Saturn no longer moves to read a disk. Did I break my Saturn while installing the chip?
Did you go through this?:

Well there must be something messing up somewhere.lxNoMaDxl wrote:I pulled out all the wires and took off as much of the soldering as I could. I made sure that nothing was touching anything that it shouldn't and the lens still does not move.
Just having the chip installed wouldn't kill a Saturn on its own.
What exactly is the Saturn doing/saying now?

The lense not moving/powering is a symptom of one of three things:
1) The modchip isn't getting power. This is probably due to the red wire not being soldered strongly enough.
2) The CD-ROM cable/ribbon isn't connected securely enough.
3) Two or more of the pins on the BIOS chip (where the blue wire goes) are bridged. Check them with a multimeter.
Those would be the top 3 things I'd look for first.
If you removed the chip completely and it still doesn't work, it's most likely #3.
