Re: D-d-d-danger, watch behind you...
After doing a little research I found out that there was a Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers 2 for the NES. Here's a gameplay video of it. I've never heard of it before today, so like Ducktales 2, I've never had the chance to play it. Anyone here ever try it out?
Darkwing Duck is another Capcom NES platformer that comes to mind now, as I remember playing it over a friends house when I was younger, but I can't really remember how the gameplay was.

I didnt like Rescue Rangers 2 as much as the first one, it just didnt play as well to me. It did have harder boss fights though. Thats a plus.
I have really fond memories of playing Rescue Rangers coop with friends and family. Same people I played Bubble Bobble with actually.

I never realized there was co-op play in Rescue Rangers! That is awesome. I know what I'm doing this weekend.... I just hope that someone at the local flea market has a copy of the game!fastbilly1 wrote:I didnt like Rescue Rangers 2 as much as the first one, it just didnt play as well to me. I remember having a lot of fun with Darkwing Duck back in the day, but I was also an enormous fan of the cartoon, so that may have influenced my thoughts. On a funny note, one of the more notable NES hacks I remember was a version of Darkwing Duck, with Mega Man edited in instead. It was known as Rockman 5 in the US.
As for later platformers based on cartoons that I enjoyed, Bonkers on the SNES was a lot of fun. But then again, I expect that from Capcom.

Rescue Rangers 1 is pretty cool, I still have mine from when it was released.

So did Darkwing Duck play like a Mega Man game? I know Ducktales is similar to Mega Man, but without the shooting mechanics. I remember playing it in the past, but for the life of me I can't remember how it played. I'll have to be on the lookout for that game now.Ack wrote:I remember having a lot of fun with Darkwing Duck back in the day, but I was also an enormous fan of the cartoon, so that may have influenced my thoughts. Nice! Do you still have the box and manual? I know I used to keep all of my old SNES boxes, manuals, and inserts, but I can't find them now.Niode wrote:Rescue Rangers 1 is pretty cool, I still have mine from when it was released.

Yep. It's even got the little bit of polystyrene in the bottom that keeps the cartridge level with the top. I kept all the boxes for all my games.jfe2 wrote:Nice! Thanks for the link! From there I actually found a nice play-through video that a guy had posted. The guy really knows the game inside and out. He pretty much breezed through the game and knew a lot about the cartoon, which really came through in his commentary.
