Bunnyhoping and other "good" glitches. What do you think?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Public games on the Wii are even worse with all the people using cheat codes now-a-days. You can even get instant boost from drift and snake all over the place.

I ran in to one guy that could spawn any item he wanted..he was constantly using bullet bill...

That's harsh. Cheating on Mario Kart DS wifi was limited to pulling out the Nintendo Wifi stick so you didn't get your loss recorded. That was really annoying.

^A friend of mine who was really good at Mario Kart DS said that he could never get past 1 real game for each 5 he played because everyone ragequitted. It was horrid.

Like someone else said...before spawn points were random like now, they were all asigned points...it was just a matter of what point you got, most people knew them ALL by heart...so you would have that ONE douche bag that would jump ALL around the map and spawn kill. pos.
That's why you learn to do it yourself and beat them to the punch.

The vast majority of the time glitches and exploits improve and enrich the game. They add another layer of depth and skill to the game that wouldn't have been there otherwise, making the game more intense and competitive. There are those instances where it DOES make the game worse, though. Snaking in Mario Kart DS is close, but it's really more of a tradeoff. On the one hand, snaking made the game require MUCH more skill than it would have otherwise, making the game almost legitimately competitive(the overpowered items in the game prevented that still IMO), but on the other hand, it completely and utterly destroyed any resemblance of balance the game would have otherwise had. Out of the 36 available karts you have to pick one of 2 of them to have any chance of winning. That said it's not a very good game IMO, competitive or not.

Wavedashing is not a glitch, no, but it's also not exclusive to Melee. Wavedashing is a technique found in many other fighting games as well, such as Tekken and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. That said, this technique is a prime example of one that only enriches and improves the game.

L-Cancelling(which stands for Lag Cancelling, not the actual L button) actually isn't a glitch OR an exploit. It was completely intentional. When you use an aerial attack and then land on the ground, there is normally a considerable amount of recovery lag. When you press L or R during that aerial attack just before landing on the ground, the lag is halved. This was added in the first game to allow players to be able to shield on the ground quickly after attacking in there. Sure, SHFFLing wasn't EXACTLY what they had in mind when they added it, but all of the mechanics in it, the short hop, the fast fall, and the L-Cancel, work exactly as the developers intended.
