You master modders/hackers, I have a question. Do you think it would be possible to bypass the accelerometer of the Wiimote so I can use a button and a dial/spinner instead of the actual accelerometer?
I know this sounds crazy but if it is possible it means I can make a arcade stick for NBA Jam and still be able to use it for New Super Mario Bros and other like games.
I have found PCBs for the wiimote:

A friend sent me this info on the accelerometer:

And it is his belief that a dial is doable, but a dial and a button would be rough.
Any help or suggestions is really appreciated
Wiimote hack feasibility
Re: Wiimote hack feasibility
That would definitely be possible. I'm actually using the ADXL330 for my current project (an opensoundcontrol instrument in the shape of a cube with accelerometers and a 4x4 button interface on each side) all you would have to do is figure out the voltage range the ADXL330 outputs to the wii remote (open one up and use a multimeter on the traces coming from the ADXL330 IC) then it's just a matter of reproducing the voltage range using resistors and a dial control for each axis. Should be pretty straight forward. There's nothing technical about the wii remote, very simple electronics.

Thanks for the info Niode. But now I am curious of your soundcube device. Any other details you can share?
