That's what I used to do! It works better than anything else. I think my friend Josh showed me it when I was in elementary school. It was the only way to get Ninja Gaiden 2 (my most well-used game) to work. As mentioned in the video, pulling it in and out while wiggling eventually makes a good contact to all the pins.

I used to do this, when I used the original nes. It works, but the blinking can still cause the game not to work. I found that if I pressed reset at the right time I could get the blinking to stop.

The reason this works is because of the reason the NES stops booting; the contacts aren't making contact anymore. Wiggling adjusts the positions of the contacts and allows them to make a connection. The better method is to spend the $10 to get a replacement connector.

This isn't common knowledge as a temporary workaround?

But yeah, stop blowing on the carts, get a new edge connector or clean and bend the pins, then open up the games so you can clean them properly.

$8 and 15 minutes is time and money well spent to get rid of the hassle involved if your NES is real bad with the blinking.

Or you can open the NES for free, and use a flat head scredriver or even a blunt knife to bend the pins back to their original place. It's not that hard...

I used to have a crappy nintendo that I kept the top off of so I could drag keys over the contact pins to make cool stuff happen. The times when it didn't freeze the game I could sometimes get new levels to appear.
