What is the best software for playing DVD's? I have windows XP. Also i'm looking for something that is free. Thanks.

I personally use VLC;

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Plays most things in great quality. Though you might have to get some additional drivers if the computer you are using is a brand new xp install.

I always just used WMP, but you may or may not have the right codecs to play DVDs. If that be the case, you can always download some.

I've used VLC, Media Player Classic, and Windows Media Player, and really they all seem to have virtually identical playback. I just use MPC (with the codecs from CCCP) because I like the way it feels.

Can't go wrong with VLC and Windows Media Player Classic. I love messing with the video effecting in VLC.
